94 Rare “Twins” of Hintha 4A3 from the same workshop, Shan States (Burma), late 19th century
“Twins”, made of silvery bronze with beautiful natural patina Both Hintha weights are comparable, almost down to the smallest detail. They show all typical signs and smooth surface from long time use over decades.
A merchant bought these weights from a workshop somewhere in the southern Shan States more than a century ago. And so it’s a great surprise that the “twins” are still together and now available for sale.

These bird weights are most likely from Yawnghwe (see Annandale, 1917), a princely state of the Shan States, today Nyaungshwe on the shores of the Inle Lake.
The shape of these late Shan weights distinguishes them easily from the earlier Burmese weights.
