Your kindness nourished Hnin’s body, heart, and soul
nin’s early life was marked by tragedy and heartache. She and her younger sister were raised by their older brother, who struggled with a gambling problem. His debts left little money to buy food, so Hnin often had to beg neighbors for something to eat. But thankfully, caring friends like you intervened through Chedikho School in Thailand, supported by Orphan’s Promise. Your love made all the difference for Hnin. When she started with our program in kindergarten at age 9, Hnin was very thin and couldn’t read or write. “I would watch other kids eating, running around, and enjoying themselves,” she said. “I felt so sad and left out. I felt sorry for myself.” At first, Hnin struggled. She used bad language, broke the rules, and even stole from other children. But through the caring dedication of a teacher and a pastor at the school, Hnin began Continued on page 4

to change. Thanks to you, she received the educational support she needed to grow her confidence. She also learned about the love of God through CBN’s animated series Superbook. And kindhearted friends like you helped make sure she had something else she desperately needed—nutritious meals. Through our school feeding program, students at Chedikho School receive healthy lunches to nourish their growing bodies and give them the energy to learn, play, and thrive. For children like Hnin who have experienced hunger, a dependable meal is more than nourishment. It’s a daily reminder that they are loved, cared for, and never forgotten. Hnin received so much more than food, shelter, and clothing from the school. She gained a community and a family that truly loved and cared for her—and eventually her sister, as well. Hnin is now thriving. Today, Hnin loves attending church. She is learning English and helps other children during dance practice. Thanks to your love and support, Hnin and so many other children have a place to feel safe and cherished. A place that shows them the possibilities life has to offer. As Hnin continues to grow physically and spiritually, she is also beginning to dream—she wants to become a teacher one day. Thank you for surrounding this precious child with the care she needed to find hope for a brighter future. 4

Texas:
WHEN THE WATERS ROSE AGAIN For many Texas families, last year’s deadly flood in Kerrville wasn’t just a memory. It was a season of trauma that never seemed to end. Then, one year later—before some families had fully recovered—rising floodwaters devastated Texas once again. This time, Robert’s family was among those caught in the deluge. Late one night in July, water burst through the doors of their home with frightening speed, pushing furniture down the hallway. Robert helped his wife and daughter climb into the attic while the water continued to rise. “I was saying prayers the whole time,” he recalled. “I prayed out loud with my family.” For hours, they waited, unsure what the night would bring. When the flood finally began to recede before dawn, Robert fought through chest-deep water and debris to reach a window. He waved to rescuers in the distance who carried them to safety. As disaster struck Texas once again, friends like you were again there for families like Robert’s, helping provide hot meals, clean water, emergency supplies, and compassionate volunteers to those facing unimaginable loss. “It’s a lot. I feel the love right now,” Robert said. “Thank God y’all are here.” And your love is reaching so many others in their time of great need. Continued on page 8 7

Colombia:
CLIMBING OUT OF THE RUBBLE “I was there.” Ten-year-old Santiago told us about the deadly 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck Colombia in August. He managed to crawl out of the rubble that was once his home, scraping his knee and side as he climbed to safety. Anxiously, he waited to see if his mother and two younger siblings— Andrew (6) and Emmys (3)— would follow. When Santiago shared his story with our team, he fought to hold back the tears. “I was scared. I thought my whole family wouldn’t make it.”

Thankfully, his family all survived and moved in with a friend of his mom’s. But the memory of that horrific day lingered, and the long road to recovery felt overwhelming. Friends like you wrapped loving arms around Santiago and so many other families in the hard days that followed—with hot food, clean water, solar lights, and practical care that reminded them they were not alone.
“They make me want to hug them,” Santiago said. Then the tears began to fall. “It feels like … happiness.” Your kindness was also present with the stricken people of Nepal in the aftermath of deadly flash floods that wiped out entire villages. Thank you for showing up and pointing hurting families to the hope that never washes or crumbles away.

Baby Miriam found strength and a new beginning through life-changing surgery
F
or most mothers, feeding a newborn is one of the sweetest moments of parenthood. But for Miriam’s mother, every feeding became a reminder that her little one was suffering. Baby Miriam was born with a cleft lip. From the very beginning, mealtimes were difficult. Without enough nourishment, she struggled to gain weight and became more vulnerable to illness. Her mother tried everything she could, but breastfeeding wasn’t enough. As a landscaper, Miriam’s father could only find enough work for three days each week. He barely earned enough to provide for his

family, which included another child with special needs. Little Miriam needed additional nourishment, but the cost of formula was far beyond what they could afford. Her mother tried using goat’s milk, praying it would be enough to help her daughter grow. But it still wasn’t adequate for Miriam to thrive.

Surgery would help Miriam feed more easily, gain strength, and continue growing – Miriam’s mother the way God intended, but even that was out of reach—until hope arrived through friends like you. Your kindness made it possible for Miriam to receive the life-changing surgery she needed to repair her cleft lip. You did far more than mend a tiny child’s smile. The care you made possible allowed Miriam’s body to process the nutrition it craved. You brought peace to a mother’s anxious heart and gave this hurting family hope for the future. “You are truly a blessing,” said Miriam’s mother. “Seeing my daughter now and remembering how she was before brings me so much joy. May God bless you!” Thank you for giving children like Miriam life-changing medical care. They are being nourished—in body, in heart, and in hope. 11

Waiting for Water You turned a mother’s uncertainty to lasting hope in India
E
very day began with a question: When will the water come? For years, Sravanthi and her daughters, Greeshma (5) and Seeri (3), lived with that uncertainty. Ongoing drought plagued their village in southern India. And even when water was available, it didn’t offer refreshing relief from the heat—it created its own problems. Water flowed through the village supply line for only a short time each day—sometimes just an hour— and no one knew exactly when it would come. Someone always had to stay home and wait. If they missed its arrival, they faced a walk of more than a mile round trip over dry, rocky roads to collect water in heavy pots.

And even then, the water wasn’t clean. Greeshma and Seeri often became sick. “We didn’t always have the money for treatment,” Sravanthi said. “It was heartbreaking to see them suffer from something as basic as the lack of safe water.”

Then God used you to stop the waiting. Thanks to your generosity, Operation Blessing installed a water purification system at a local school that benefits not only the students, but families throughout the
community, as well. Today fresh, clean water is delivered right to their doorsteps— including for Sravanthi and her children. Now, they no longer have to spend hours waiting or searching for precious water. “My life has completely changed,” Sravanthi said. “Now we can focus on our work, our children’s studies, and our future.” Your compassion has lifted the burden of constant uncertainty from this mother’s shoulders and replaced it with something far better. “You haven’t just given us water,” she said. “You’ve given us health, dignity, and hope.” Thank you for blessing families with the life-changing gift of clean water. 13

veryone likes a feel-good story—where someone works through hardship and comes out the other side extraordinarily changed for the better. But what if we’re talking about an innocent child? Poor. Vulnerable. Nearly invisible. And all but forgotten. What then? That’s where your love found 7-year-old Anibal—and helped him find a place where he could blossom. Anibal lived on the streets of the Dominican Republic. He ate out of trash cans—and even slept in them. His days were marked by constant hunger and uncertainty. When his grandmother, Damaris, learned about his situation, she took him into her home. But food was still scarce. Some days, she had to borrow money just to buy bread. Then her pastor helped her enroll Anibal into a nearby school supported by friends like you. It wasn’t all smooth sailing. Anibal struggled to follow the rules and socialize with classmates. He often reacted with aggression. But your love didn’t give up on him.

Under the patient care of his teachers, Anibal positively thrived. And the food your generosity provided became one of the most important parts of his daily routine.
