How a mother’s faith turned loss into hope for her family
The flames came quickly, devouring the home Isidora had known all her life. At just 19 years old, she stared in disbelief at the video she’d been sent of her house on fire. The reality was unbearable. She wrapped her arms around her aunt and cried out, “Auntie, I lost my home.” Isidora’s house was slowly becoming one of the statistics of the Chile wildfires that destroyed more than 20 homes and burned over 98,000 acres. Your love came alongside this struggling family in their darkest moments. But even in the shock of that moment, Isidora refused to stand still. She rushed to her home and climbed onto the roof. She carried water and poured it again and again, determined to stop the flames. Nonetheless, the fire raged on, slowly engulfing her house. As she

stood on that roof watching the flames spread, she cried out to God. “Why? You say in your Word that ‘A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you’” (Psalm 91:7). It was an honest cry—one born of faith, not rebellion. “Why my house?”
Isidora didn’t stop trying to save her family home until 3:30 a.m., when she realized she couldn’t hold back the destruction.
When her parents finally arrived, she ran into her mother’s arms, tears streaming down her face.
“Mom, I swear I tried to save the house, but it didn’t work. I tried. I did my best, Mom.”
Then the deeper fear slipped out. “Mom ... we have no home.”

close as everything they owned smoldered behind them. The house was gone. The memories, the familiar rooms, the safety of routine—reduced to ashes. Yet in that devastating moment, this mother’s focus was clear. “My child, it doesn’t matter,” she told Isidora. “It doesn’t matter because you’re okay. As long as you’re okay, we’ll see about the rest.” Their family was together, safe. That’s what mattered.
Still, questions lingered in Isidora’s soul. Why had God let it happen? As the smoke cleared and the shock began to settle, understanding slowly followed.
Isidora shared, “Later I understood that nothing happened to me or my family. And that God’s timing is perfect. It is perfect. I can say that God has not forsaken us.”
Their home was destroyed, but their lives were spared. Their faith, though shaken, remained intact. And in the steady embrace of her mother, Isidora’s hope began to rise from the ashes.

Through friends like you, Operation Blessing responded swiftly to the Chile wildfires. In neighborhoods covered in ash and uncertainty, you helped provide 710 nourishing meals to people who had lost so much. You also delivered 150 hygiene kits—restoring dignity and offering comfort to mothers and fathers working to care for their children in the aftermath.

Mothers wear many hats. Caregiver, teacher, chef … the list goes on. But what happens when a mother’s not feeling well? Can you imagine trying to look after the wellbeing of your family when you’re suffering? This was exactly the battle Aida in Kenya faced. She felt weak and experienced intense stomach pain. To make matters worse, her 1-year-old baby girl, Leah, was also sick with a fever.
“I tried going to the hospital, but without money, I couldn’t get treatment for my child or myself,” said Aida.
This loving mother stayed home, caring for her family, and her husband’s income wasn’t enough to provide for medical care in addition to their day-to-day expenses.
Aida needed help. That’s when generous friends like you came along! Through your support, Operation Blessing’s mobile medical clinic was able to provide medication and treatment for Aida, Leah, and so many others in their village.
“I was really happy when I got to the clinic. We were received very well. The doctors attended to us, and we were given medicine for free,” said Aida.
The thoughtfulness and kindness of supporters like you restored Aida’s health so that she could care for her family once again. You gave her extra relief when you helped bring healing to her daughter, as well.

Honduras:
Building a Business, Building Hope
In Pozas Verdes, Rosario watched her husband struggle to find steady work. She began baking cakes to sell in their community to help provide for their two children. But even with both parents working, money remained impossibly tight. She told us that when buying food for her family, “Sometimes we had to decide whether to buy ingredients to make sandwiches or to buy meat.” Because they simply couldn’t afford both.
That’s when your love stepped in. Rosario received a larger oven, a food processor, and business management training for her cake-making business. The transformation was a godsend for this struggling family. Rosario told us her production tripled. She expanded to neighboring villages and the family’s income improved dramatically. Because you cared, the anguish of wondering if they could afford food was lifted from their shoulders.
“Infinite thanks,” she said. “It seems unreal what is happening to me. I am very motivated and grateful.”
India: Clean Water, Clear Future
Kalyani lived in Bhuvanapalli village with her husband and their 4-year-old son, and another baby was on the way. Her husband’s work as a laborer brought in less than $10 a day—barely enough to cover essentials.
But their greatest challenge? No clean drinking water. They had to fetch muddy water from a local pond, filter it through cloth, boil it, and hope for the best.
Her son frequently fell ill, suffering from skin allergies, stomach pain, and even typhoid. And now that Kalyani was pregnant again, doctors warned that she needed clean water for her own and her baby’s well-being.
“Without clean water, I feared for my health and my baby’s,” Kalyani said.
Then you helped install a reverse osmosis plant at the local school, providing safe water for the entire community.

Her son’s health improved dramatically, and Kalyani no longer has to walk long distances under the scorching sun to fetch contaminated water. Because of your compassion, Kalyani can go through her pregnancy with peace. Today, more than 100 families and over 500 students benefit from the clean water your love helped to provide.
Ukraine: Breaking the Cycle
At 16 and pregnant, Anna was terrified.
Abandoned by her own family, Anna experienced a childhood that was defined by survival, neglect, and abuse. In the midst of the war in Ukraine, Anna didn’t know how she could bring new life into a world so broken. She debated terminating her pregnancy as the world seemed to close in around her. Anna said, “I didn’t want to live! I was
desperate, ashamed.”
Thankfully, Anna found a transition home in the city of Vinnytsia, where she was safe and able to find much-needed help. Supported by you and an Orphan’s Promise partner, the home became her first glimpse of true safety. “My mentor hugged me and told me that God was with me,” Anna said.
Caring staff at the home walked with Anna through every step. From hospital visits to the birth of her daughter, Lia, your support made sure someone was there to guide and love her. Partners like you covered medical expenses and provided for the young mother and her new baby.

Hunger relief brings hope to Patricia’s family in Virginia
Patricia never expected a conversation in a grocery store aisle to change her life.
But during times of uncertainty, when food was scarce and every dollar mattered, she learned about D.C. Church’s food ministry—and found the support her family desperately needed through friends like you.
At the time, Patricia was a full-time caregiver for her mother, who depended on dialysis and needed round-the-clock assistance.
This put Patricia in a difficult financial situation. “I was limited in what I could get and limited in what I could spend,” she shared.
Through Operation Blessing’s partnership with D.C. Church, you helped provide Patricia with nutritious food for her household— fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, canned goods, and perishable items, which all helped her stretch every dollar while continuing to care for those she loves. “Coming here was the best move I could have made during that time,” she said.
As a lifelong caregiver, Patricia understood the importance of nourishing food. “Fresh food helps the body stay strong,” she explained. “It helps sustain everyday life.”

Everything they do, they do it in love.”

What does it take for a child to heal from the trauma of war?
War stunts children’s growth and development, interrupts their education, stifles their sense of security, and torpedoes their dreams.
That’s exactly what it did to 13-year-old Wael, now living in Zarqa, Jordan. His family fled a brutal civil war in Syria that displaced more than half the nation’s population. Things became even more tense when his father lost his job and had no way to provide for the family. Wael desperately needed love and support from friends like you.
Their situation took a decided turn for the better when Wael and his 10-year-old sister, Sham, were invited to attend a non-formal education center, run by one of our ministry partners. A kind of safety net for such children,

the center supplements public school efforts with courses in Arabic, English, math, life skills—and provides the comfort of a warm meal, as well. Thanks to your compassion, our trained, dedicated staff also teach children how to love, to forgive, and to be kind and encouraging to others. Because the center’s main goal in working with these children is to help them heal from the trauma of war.
After six months at the center, the difference we’ve seen in these siblings is remarkable. Wael’s
schoolteachers report that he is a hard-working student, always trying to improve himself. Sham is doing better too, and her lack of concentration—which had affected her performance in public school—no longer plagues her.
With such success stories, the family is all smiles—smiles that you have helped put there. Even better, with the stability that you provided, they can dream again, because they have regained their hope for a better future.
