I grew up about two hours from Apalachicola, FL. This part of the Florida panhandle has been called The Forgotten Coast. Whatever you want to call it, I hope it stays just like it is. My Mom’s family is from the area. They were fishermen whose homestead was what is now Turkey Point. As a kid, I spent summer weekends
down there fishing for Trout and Redfish, some time on the beach and a lot of time driving the boat around exploring. The thing I loved most was how unpretentious and relaxed the area was.
It still is. It was fun to share the area with the Onward Reserve team. We stayed on St. George Island
and took the boat to Apalachicola. This area is widely known for its’ bounty of fresh oysters,
terrific fishing, and beautiful beaches. I hope you enjoy a glimpse into this special,
often forgotten, part of the world. It means a lot to me.
