Welcome to your June edition of SO magazine where we meet the headmistress of Mayfield School Antonia Beary to discuss the educational ethos this esteemed all-girls senior school has practiced since it was founded by Mother Cornelia Connelly in 1872. That is to give girls the confidence they need to succeed in life. It’s an inspiring read and one we hope you will very much enjoy. We also cover the return of the Wealden Literary Festival which takes place in Woodchurch at the end of this month and sees the likes of former Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy and Warhorse author Michael Morpurgo attending. Talking of culture, as our theatres reopen we also chat to the manager of Tonbridge School’s EM Forster about their return – and discover that they’re putting on a midsummer panto.
