November 1775
A group of anti-British, Boston patriots, issued a bold proclamation for their Massachusetts colony. It declared a "Day of public Thanksgiving” on November 23, 1775. This day was not only about giving thanks...but a statement proclaiming their right to be a free nation. This celebration certainly had more to do with the politics of the time than it did with what we consider “Thanksgiving” today...however, it was a precursor to a National day of Thanksgiving.
Same as it ever was...
Well, Almost -
“That such a Band of Union, founded upon the best Principles, unites the American Colonies; That our Rights and Priviledges ... are so far preserved to us, notwithstanding all the Attempts of our barbarous Enemies to deprive us of them. And to offer up humble and fervent Prayers to Almighty GOD, for the whole British Empire; especially for the UNITEDAMERICAN COLONIES. "

“Praise to God ... A duty of continual obligation”
Thursday,November23rd,1775
Having been appointed a day of public thanksgiving, by the General Assembly of Massachusetts and upon the assembly’s petition and recommendation to George Washington, General Washington’s “General Orders” of November 18, 1775, were thus:
“The Honorable - the Legislature of this Colony having thought fit to set apart Thursday the 23rd of November Instant, as a day of public thanksgiving “to offer up our praises, and prayers, to Almighty God, the Source and BenevolentBestowerofallgood; Thathewouldbepleased graciously to continue, to smileupon our Endeavours, to restore peace, preserve our Rights, and Privileges, to the latestposterity;prosper theAmericanArms, preserve and strengthentheHarmonyoftheUnitedColonies, andavert the Calamities of a civil war. ” The General therefore commands, thatdayto beobservedwithalltheSolemnity directedby theLegislativeProclamation, and allOfficers, Soldiers & others, are hereby directed, with the most unfeignedDevotion, toobeythesame. ”
At the Worchester assembly, on that Thursday, November 23rd, 1775 -
a sermon by Pastor Thaddeus Maccarty, was preached (and ultimately published at the request on many hearers on that fine “Thanksgiving” day.
As an opening prayer for America in this issue of AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL 250, we share excerpts from the sermon to offer our thanks for Awesome American Citizens stepping up to join this public day of Thanksgiving, seeking the blessings of the Almighty upon America:
I will BLESS the LORD at all times ... His praise shall continually be in my mouth. Psalm34:1
“There are two grand and important duties, which, both reason and the word of God call men to, considering him as the great orderer and disposer of all events both good and evil Prayer, for the bestowment of needed good - and praise for the receipt of it
Considering ourselves as needy creaturs, the duty of prayer is of continual obligation And considering ourselves as the daily subjects of the mercies of God, the duty of praise is also of continual obligation It was from an impresive sense of this, that the pious Psalmist utters himself, as in the words of our text, "I will bless the Lord at all times, his praise shall be continually in my mouth.” The words plainly import this - That God's creatures, at-all-times and under all circumstances and conditions of life, have occasion to praise and bless him NONE surely will call it in question, that they have such occasion in times of prosperity; when the aspects of divine providence are agreeable and pleasant
Men must be lost to all sense of God, and of their obligations to him, not to acknowledge that praise is a just tribute due to him on account of his favours and benefits. There are few indeed that will carry matters to such a length as this, speculatively, whatever they may do practically. That they do so practically, is the case in a multitude of instances. Though they are the subjects of many and great favours at the hands of God, yet they have no grateful sense of them and are grossly negligent in making their acknowledgements to him Their own reason, if they only appeal to that, must utterly condemn them for such unworthy treatment of their Maker and bounteous Benefactor. It may be made evident, that in times of evil and calamity, men have even then occasion to praise God. Surely then they have so, when it is clear, bright sunshine with them. "I will bless the Lord at all times,” says David, “His praise shall be continually in my mouth.”...
For "righteousness" has a moral as well as natural tendency to "exalt a nation" or people If now, such are the merciful designs of the great Governor of the world, when he sends evils and calamities upon a land, then occasion is hereby ministred for praise to his great name ”
Therefore, let U S as a Nation, make our Thanksgiving one of praise and blessing to God, in whom we GRACIOUSLY and continually REQUEST:
“GOD BLESS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”
That‘s a super-easy, five-syllables,
should have roll off our tongues, daily! ...Along with prayers for the country. Guys, get in the habit - your wives and girlfriends will love hearing it, especially said to them.
Give it a shot! GO ON ...“I LOVE U (again).
“I LOVE USA” There you go, America -
Doesn’t that make you feel good, just to say it?
Ladies - Lady America - don’t you agree? And Men, could you feel the smiles and the twinkle in her eye? And how about that big affectionate hug, to go along with? Kids, that goes for you too A little love and affection goes a long way - for each one of U.S.
And a lot of love and affection goes on...even farther. For America, that love and affection has gone on now, for almost 250-years, and we certainly shouldn’t stop now. Next, “think” about the “Why.”
To get these personal ‘Why’s” out, in this issue of AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL 250, we wish to share the Gift of Gratitude for America “It’s up to U.S.”
To properly defend her, we wish to proudly salute the 250th Anniversary of the U.S Marines, and the millions of men & women who have defended America all these years, with a “loyalty to country” in their creed, “Semper Fidelis” (Always Faithful). "Oorah"
Then there are those two very powerful words “Common Sense” for America, from the extraordinary Founding Father, Thomas Paine. We ask “All Americans” to place yourself in the story. Bet your bottom dollar, you will be benefitted from doing so.
America, our nation’s history is important and England (the people), had some of ours to share with U.S. after we saved the day: America is going to love it!
Finally, getting back to the basics:
“I
LOVE USA”...“GOD BLESS THE USA.”

What is (y)our conscious telling U.S.? America, it’s time...to jump to action.
It’s time...for “All of U.S.” to start listening to that little chirp in our collective, American Spirit: “Get away from the foolishness and back to the work of RESTORING AMERICA!” ...
Cricket, what’s wrong with that?”
Your right NOTHING is wrong about RESTORING AMERICA! So, what the devil, is binding U.S. citizens up then?”
Paul Harvey told U.S. back in 1965, and Abigail Adams did too (200-years before that)
CONGRESS and “WE THE PEOPLE” should be casting our donkey ears off and listening to the wise words of wisdom, from our Founding Fathers:
“I predict future happiness for Americans, if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.”
- Thomas Jefferson
And there you have it, “ALL AMERICANS” some more “Common Sense,” straight from the man who wrote the Declaration, which encouraged a “more perfect” union -- America, Let’s Pull It Together!
Let U S “All” recall: “We are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable Rights...that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness”
At issue’s end, join AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL 250
America, who amongst U.S., is grateful for that? Fantastic! Then, let’s get to the business of getting Government back to work, like the rest of U.S. !!!

A Letter from Abigail Adams to her husband - John Adams - Nov 5, 1775 (and now a reminder to U.S. Patriots, all!)
“I had the pleasure of dining with Dr. Franklin, and of admiring him whose character from my infancy, I had been taught to venerate. I found him social, but not talkative, and when he spoke, something usefull dropped from his Tongue; he was grave, yet pleasant, and affable - You know I make some pretensions to physiognomy [the purported art of judging a person’s character from their facial characteristics], and I thought I could read in his countenance the Virtues of his Heart, among which patriotism shined in its full Lusture - and with that is blended every virtue of a Christian, for a true patriot must be a religious Man. I have been led to think from a late defection that he who neglects his duty to his Maker, may well be expected to be deficient and insincere in his duty towards the public. Even suppose him to possess a large share of what is called honour and publick Spirit yet do not these men by their bad example, by a loose immoral conduct corrupt the Minds of youth, and vitiate the Morrals of the age, and thus injure the publick more than they can compensate by intrepidity, Generosity and Honour? Let revenge or ambition, pride, lust or profit tempt these men to a base and vile action, you may as well hope to bind up a hungry tiger with a cobweb as to hold such debauched patriots in the visionary chains of Decency or to charm them with the intellectual Beauty of Truth and reason. ”
Lampwick says to Pinocchio, “Ever been to Pleasure Island?...They say it’s a swell joint”...“No school, no cops...you can tear the joint apart and nobody says a word...Loaf around; plenty to eat, plenty to drinkAND IT’S ALL FREE! ... Boy, that’s the place - I can hardly wait.”...
“What did I tell you, isn’t this a swell joint?,” ‘Lampy’ asks Pinocchioto which Pinocchio replies, “Yeah, Being bad is a lot of fun, ain’t it?” Lampwick responds, “Yeah, what did I tell you? This is the life!!”
“Pinocchio, get out of here”, yells Gimini. “But Gimini, Lampwick says, a guy only lives once” YOLO, REALLY? HELLO, AMERICA?
Maybe, we ought to listen to Abigail and Gimini Cricket?
It’s time for a little ... No, a lot of“Common Sense” America
Let’s start with those basic words we were taught when we were very young as a beginning of reason:
WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, WHY, HOW AND HOW MUCH?
Throughout America in recent weeks, we’ve all seen the television screens and driven down the streets, where, around America, a great number of individuals have been influenced to join the fray and shout the scripted rallying cry: “No Kings” - as if to say, there is a King amongst U.S.? That certainly is a provocative and well thought out marketing slogan, which has encouraged many in the country to “buy”(or been paid), into shouting the chant. However, does it really make any sense? Any “Common Sense?”
Then let’s begin by asking ourselves these tough little questions: Beginning with WHO?
The “No Kings” rallies are organized by a coalition of more than 200 progressive organizations, with the group “Indivisible” leading the large progressive foundations & labor unions involved. These groups have publicly organized and promoted the rallies. According to their website, “Indivisible is a grassroots movement of thousands of local Indivisible groups with a mission to elect progressive leaders, rebuild our democracy, and defeat the Trump agenda.”
Not surprisingly, Indivisible is backed by multiple millionaire and billionaire businessmen and politicians, who like Bernie Sanders, are all (interestingly enough), shouting, “Damn the Oligarchs”
WOW, NOW THERE IS SOME COMMON SENSE!
To analyze this, America at large, should be wise enough to ask itself the basic three, four and fiveletter-word questions: who, what, where, when, why, how, and how much? Shouldn’t America want to know the very basics and what all those at the rallies are screaming about. To come to reason, shouldn’t these questions be ones “All Americans” (including rally goers), ask themselves? Doesn’t that make a little - NO, A LOT OF - Common Sense, America? YES, IT STANDS TO REASON...IT DOES!
“To argue with a person who has renounced the authority of reason ...is like administering medicine to the dead...”
- Thomas Paine
Promoting Awesome American Citizenship
Now the WHAT:
From the website’s leadership section, “Indivisible's national team offers strategic leadership, movement coordination, and support to Indivisible activists, and directly lobbies congress, builds partnerships, runs media campaigns, and develops advocacy strategies. Together we fight to defeat the rightwing takeover of American government and build an inclusive democracy ”
REALLY? THERE’S SOME MORE COMMON SENSE
That sounds rather inclusive, doesn’t it...
“ALL AMERICANS?”
Next, the WHERE:
More than 2,500 protests under the 'No Kings' movement took place across the U.S. on October 18th, where the rallying cry was against the Trump administration, ICE, the police, the military, and of course “oligarchy” (except the million/billionaire socialist and communist funders and politicians promoting the event). Are you dialing in the ‘Common Sense’ theme, America?
And, When:
The first major "No Kings" demonstration was held on June 14, 2025, which was the U.S. Army's 250th anniversary (and which also happened to be President Trump's 79th birthday). Quite ironic and strategic to not celebrate the Army’s 250th, just to spite “The King.”
Hey, America (including you progressive, ‘Indivisible’ rally-folks out there), just a “Common Sense” question for “All Americans” to ponder, “Wasn’t it the Continental Army who fought the fight against the real King and the same “U.S.” Army who fought for folks right to protest?” ... And the protests are scheduled on the exact day of the U.S. Army’s very special 250th

Anniversary? How bizarre & two-faced is that, as selfproclaimed, “progressive” protesters - protest away? WOW! ’Ain’t that America?’ Not really, for most of U.S.
It’s time for a reality check that starts with, “WHY?”

Oct. 18th, 2025 - Protesters gathered across the country for "No Kings" rallies
Ask yourself the WHY?
Indivisible says why on their website: “Indivisible was founded in response to Trump’s election - but we know that Trump is a symptom of a sick democracy, not its cause. We face two fundamental problems: first, our democracy was rigged from the start in favor of the white and wealthy. Second, in the last few decades, an alliance of white nationalists and the ultra-rich have been actively working to further undermine democracy and cement their hold on power permanently. That’s how we ended up with Trump. We have got to build a democracy that reflects a broad, multiracial “we the people,” one that works for all of us and is sustained by all of us. Only then will we be able to achieve a progressive vision for our future.”
The application of “Common Sense” should give America an introspective look into the real agendas... Progressive Socialism - Is that really “America’s” vision? Think hard, America - Our future depends upon it!
As to the HOW:
Indivisible lays out “How we win”
“Defeating a multi-decade right-wing takeover of American government ain’t easy. But we’re here to win, and we have a plan Here’s how we’re doing it:
We Are Indivisible. Our opponents depend on a divide and conquer strategy, so we treat an attack on one like an attack on all. We show up for each other, and particularly for those facing the brunt of rightwing ideologues’ attacks - often immigrants, people of color, and low-income people We share a vision: a real democracy, of, by, and for everyone.”
“Strong Leaders, Strong Groups, Strong Movement. We build and sustain our movement’s power by helping individuals take leadership. They grow and lead local Indivisible groups, take independent action, and coordinate with their fellow local leaders. As a movement, our power comes from coordinated national campaigns where we act together, indivisible. Inside/Outside Strategy We understand systems of power - like how Congress operates - and we work inside them to get results That complements our outside strategy of locally-based constituent pressure to demand elected leaders, regardless of political party, work for our democracy.
A Virtuous Cycle of Advocacy and Elections. We show up to advocate for policy wins in off-years and get out the vote in election years These efforts reinforce each other to ensure our democracy works for all of us and that the people in power do too - or we will replace them with electeds who will.”
Did you catch that word “Virtuous”? And then of course, there’s that “Common Sense” little question, “How Much?” is it going to take for these groups to “Fundamentally Transform America?” Great question to which there is a very “Common Sense” short and sweet answer, “Follow the Money”
Is America at all interested in doing this financial dirty-work? You can bet your bottom dollar ’Indivisible’ is. Here is their stated mission:
Oh, yes of course... EVERYONE... America! That ’s just “Common Sense” - Really, America?
“Indivisible Project (501c4) drives coordinated campaigns, powering the grassroots Indivisible movement to defeat the rightwing takeover of American government and win an inclusive democracy and bold progressive policies...”

“Indivisible Civics (501c3) provides movement coordination, resources, training, and tools to fuel a powerful and aligned national movement of Indivisible groups and activists to organize for change Indivisible Action (PAC) channels grassroots energy into electing progressive candidates who will work towards an inclusive democracy that provides for the needs of all people, and to defeat politicians who will stand in its way.” AND OF COURSE, ITS ALL FREE, TODAY!

You go on to try everything!
You become a privateer during the Seven Years’ War; then a teacher; and after that, a Custom’s Tax Collector, and a writer to correct the ills of your profession.
Yours is a life characterized by frequent job changes and repeated failures. On top of frustration and dejection, personal tragedy strikes when your wife and child die during childbirth. AMERICA
The New World The Promise Land (The Land of Second Chances)
... And for Thomas Paine, A place of final RefugeWhere He Could Widely Spread His Wings
Thomas Paine did indeed, come in for a graceful landing. The simple letter he clutched, marked the beginning of a remarkable new life After six-weeks of bed rest and recouperation, he could finally peruse the wonders of Philadelphia - the largest, wealthiest, and most beautiful city in America at the time - and finally, to present his letter of recommendation to the relatives of Franklin.
Thomas Paine quickly had more chance encounters ... one being, Robert Aitken, the owner of a brand-new magazine by the name of ‘Pennsylvania Magazine.” So impressed by Paine was Aitken, that he offered Thomas a job as Executive Editor of the publication.
Thomas quickly got to writing and the first issue appeared in January 1775 Like America The Beautiful 250, it featured treatises on self-improvement and the text of the Continental Congress’s writ to King George III - All “must reads”, by discerning American Citizens - America’s Patriotic members who would become patriotic allies and friends in the years ahead.
Paine’s first article of the new publication was entitled, “The Magazine in America.” In it, it read, “The two capital supports of the magazine are utility and entertainment. The first is a boundless path, the other an endless spring...I have no doubt of seeing, in a little time, an American Magazine full of more useful matter that I ever saw an English one: Because we are not exceeded in abilities, have a more extensive field of enquiry, and whatever may be our political state, Our happiness will always depend on ourselves ... I consider a magazine as a kind of bee-hive, which both allures the swarm and provides room to store their sweets. Its division into cells, gives every bee a province of its own, and though they all produce honey, yet perhaps they differ in their taste for flowers ”

“Common Sense” America’s First Self - Help Book
In November 1775, as the day of Thanksgiving drew near, Thomas Paine had already split ways with Aitken and the magazine, to set out on his own to promote his “Common Sense” views and to proclaim that this was the enlightened moment for America to become a New World model of government A society and beacon to the world for FREEDOM! This enlightenment of “Common Sense” was meant to compel America’s citizens to search for ways to dramatically improve themselves and their station in life, as well as to help lift-up fellow citizens everywhere.
And now that the Continental Congress had finally written its writ to King George, somewhat stating such, the new battle for self-governance and American independence was sure to be on America’s fight for Freedom starts now!
Be sure of this, America - Freedom was not going to be free - then or now - nor was it ever to mean you can do whatever you want - which is ultimately, nothing other than a personal escape from virtue and an enslavement to vice the total opposite of Freedom - “FREE-DUMB.”
Sanity, civility, and goodness are the fight of today!
Much of society doesn’t want to hear this, because it hits way to close to home ... citizens wish to persist in manners unbecoming to self-governance and civil obedience, rather than in ways conducive to the common good - and in keeping with a just, respectable, good and peaceful society.
“Common Sense” would tell U.S. plainly, that’s what’s going on today with “our country’s” degradation & demise.
We have lots of work to do to clean up America and its act. Certainly, we can all seek the enlightenment of “Common Sense” and search for our own ways to dramatically improve ourselves and our station in life, as well as helping to lift-up those citizens around us. Measures contrary to life, liberty and the true pursuit of happiness, are really what “We the People” are fighting against in this modern-day stand for REAL FREEDOM vs FREE-DUMB!

COMMON SENSE ON THE ORIGIN AND DESIGN OF GOVERNMENT IN GENERAL
...
“In order to gain a clear and just idea of the design and end of government, let us suppose a small number of persons settled in some sequestered part of the earth, unconnected with the rest; they will then represent the first peopling of any country, or of the world. In this state of natural liberty, society will be their first thought. A thousand motives will excite them thereto; the strength of one man is so unequal to his wants, and his mind so unfitted for perpetual solitude, that he is soon obliged to seek assistance and relief of another, who in his turn requires the same... ”

“Four or five united would be able to raise a tolerable dwelling in the midst of a wilderness, but one man might labour out the common period of life without accomplishing any thing; when he had felled his timber he could not remove it, nor erect it after it was removed; hunger in the mean time would urge him to quit his work, and every different want would call him a different way. Disease, nay even misfortune, would be death; for though neither might be mortal, yet either would disable him from living, and reduce him to a state in which he might rather be said to perish than to die.
Thus necessity, like a gravitating power, would soon form our newly arrived emigrants into society, the reciprocal blessings of which would supercede, and render the obligations of law and government unnecessary while they remained perfectly just to each other; but as nothing but Heaven is impregnable to vice, it will unavoidably happen that in proportion as they surmount the first difficulties of emigration, which bound them together in a common cause, they will begin to relax in their duty and attachment to each other: and this remissness will point out the necessity of establishing some form of government to supply the defect of moral virtue.
Some convenient tree will afford them a State House, under the branches of which the whole Colony may assemble to deliberate on public matters. It is more than probable that their first laws will have the title only of Regulations and be

enforced by no other penalty than public disesteem. In this first parliament every man by natural right will have a seat.
But as the Colony encreases, the public concerns will encrease likewise, and the distance at which the members may be separated, will render it too inconvenient for all of them to meet on every occasion as at first, when their number was small, their habitations near, and the public concerns few and trifling. This will point out the convenience of their consenting to leave the legislative part to be managed by a select number chosen from the whole body, who are supposed to have the same concerns at stake which those have who appointed them, and who will act in the same manner as the whole body would act were they present...”
...The elected might never form to themselves an interest separate from the electors, prudence will point out the propriety of having elections often...
...And as this frequent interchange will establish a common interest with every part of the community, they will mutually and naturally support each other, and on this, (not on the unmeaning name of king,) depends the strength of government, and the happiness of the governed.”

The Mayflower Compact, was signed on November 11, 1620, by 41 English colonists onboard the Mayflower. This was the first written framework of government establishing self-rule in what is now the United States The male heads of Pilgrim and nonPilgrim families drew up a compact that bound all signers to accept whatever form of government was established after landing. This "Civil Body Politic" compact would enact "just and equal Laws, Ordinances, Acts, Constitutions and Offices." Every adult male had to sign the agreement before going ashore. The compact remained in effect until Plymouth was incorporated into the short-lived Dominion of New England in 1686 and subsequently absorbed into the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1691.

WISE UP AMERICA
Great ideas are meant to be shared...words of wisdom to pass along to everyone!
The Founding Fathers also looked way to the past to see how God had instructed Moses to govern his people. By teaching them the law and then delegating judgment to capable, trustworthy leaders who feared God, the appointed leaders would handle all minor disputes. Only the most difficult cases would be brought to Moses for his judgment. This came about because Moses was getting burned out hearing all the cases. Moses’s father-in-law made this suggestion to him and this wisdom would also ensure that the people were righteously and adequately cared for.
All RISE:
Founding Father, John Jay was appointed America’s first Chief Justice, by President George Washington on October 19, 1789. He served as the head of the new Supreme Court and was instrumental in shaping the judicial branch's role and legitimacy. He oversaw the procedures for the establishment of the court's independence. He also negotiated the Treaty of Paris1783

When we, as a nation, degradate the sacred and intentionally diminish the Divine, for the perverse purpose of selfishly fulfilling our own pleasures and desires, we ultimately (and sadly, “knowingly”), will cast ourselves forth into the ghastly pit of despair.
This inky cavern, with its slimy tentacles caressing and embracing U.S., will methodically, do its conniving-best to lure, bid & beckon U.S. to a willing complicity in drawing U.S. nearer - all-the-whileplotting the continuation of the futile and ultimately, fatal course of personal and community destruction - A SOCIAL CONSTRUCT OF ORCHASTRATED DEMISE; A SPIRIT OF ANGER; ENVY AND DEVISTATING THANKLESSNESS. Not a great choice!
Fully aware (without concern for outcome), that we will be left a far way’s reach from Gratitude, the internal and external foes of America, deliberately and obstinately desire and mercilessly prod the United States populace to behave and persist in this unbecoming and reckless, downward-spiral manner ... leaving U.S. only to have to rationalize and reason away the “unreasonable” and “unacceptable” pattern of our society’s behaviors. “Says who?” it’s stubbornly and often defiantly, shoutedaccompanied by the awkwardly twisted and misspoken words: FREEDOM - LIBERTY - SOCIAL JUSTICE - RIGHTS - PEACE - LOVE - CHOICE!

Peace and Liberty Triumphing Over Tyranny - Painting by James Thornhill
Despite our nation’s people being all-to -keen and vastly aware of “knowing” the potential and likely negative consequences and repercussions of these disastrous choices and ultimate downfalls ... “When will “WE THE ‘All American’ PEOPLE,” finally, as the familiar expression goes: “get to the end of our rope,” and rise-up in gratitude for (and with), the “Awesome American Citizens” who are painstakingly, trying to stop the train wreck of “Divine” neglect - which is none other than the most grievous form of Tyranny against the True King ... where the so - called “liberating people,” decide to be their own god and CHOOSE to rule according to their dictates against LIFE and “Divine Gratitude.”
“How wonderfully progressive,” their “chosen” leaders chant, with fingers pointed in angst rather than their hands raised high for “USA” Gratitude.
Sadly, for that cause, but gladly for the country...

As Paul Harvey would say, “And now...the rest of the story” The original Mayflower that sailed to Plymouth in 1620 no longer exists. The full-scale reproduction “Mayflower II” was built in Devon, England, crossed the Atlantic in 1957, and presented as A gift to America!
“Being thus arrived in a good harbor and brought safe to land, they fell upon their knees and blessed the God of heaven, who had brought them over the vast and furious ocean, and delivered them from all the perils and miseries thereof, again to set their feet on the firm and stable earth - their proper element.”
- William Bradford 1620 (2nd Governor Plymouth Colony)
In the quickest and most concise manner possible, we take you back to 1620 where, from Plymouth, England, 102 passengers (seeking religious freedom and liberation from the King of England), crowded aboard the cramped “Mayflower” for a voyage across the Atlantic Ocean, sailing to the “New World.” They landed in and established what they called “Plymouth Colony”.
Suffering through the voyage and a very harsh, firstyear, only 52 “Pilgrims” survived. However, America History was set and would hereafter, faithfully, live on.
Over the next years, the colony grew with other English ships and passengers following. In 1630, the Massachusetts Bay Colony was formed as a new English settlement founded by other Puritans who also sought

religious freedom with the intention of creating a model Christian society. Still there was drama and the desire for English control by the King across the pond. In 1691, the Massachusetts Bay and Plymouth colonies were merged and incorporated (through a royal charter), by King William III and Queen Mary II, who were co-monarchs of England, Scotland, and Ireland from 1689 to 1694. This power-play and dual-reign, came about from the “Glorious Revolution” which ousted Mary's father, King James II.
WOW - Lots of Revolutions and cries for Freedom
* Fast forward 85-years to the next ”We Want Out”...
The American Revolution.
Once again, the “colonial” people wanted their religious freedom from England and the King - now, King George III (as you have read from previous issues). In 1783, after 7-years of fighting, American Freedom is finally won - yet - the nation would not be fully established until 1789. That “Freedom” lasted only until 1812, when the young America was once again pitted against England who now wanted world domination. What do you know about that?
Duking that war out against England, essentially, ended in a draw - and was chalked up to history at the Treaty of Trent in 1814. The foes would ultimately become friends and allies where some 100 and 130+years later, America would save the day for England in WWI, and again in World War II
Having their country decimated, the people of England were deeply grateful and appreciative that the Nation who had once, twice, three times, fought against England for Freedom, now gave them theirs back. With the thought in mind, “What do you give as a gift to a friend - the Nation who saved you” The response, “A special gift of our own American History” They got to work and built U.S. the Mayflower II. And now...you know the rest of the story!

“If I Were The Devil": A Warning to America From Paul Harvey - 1965
“If I were the devil … If I were the Prince of Darkness, I’d want to engulf the whole world in darkness . And I’d have a third of its real estate, and four-fifths of its population, but I wouldn’t be happy until I had seized the ripest apple on the tree - Thee . So, I’d set about however necessary to take over the United States . I’d subvert the churches first - I’dbegin with a campaign of whispers . With the wisdom of a serpent, I wouldwhisper toyou as Iwhispered to Eve: ‘Do as you please .
By and don’t
We’re to the a famous American broadcaster, His prophetic 1965, served as a harbinger for where the nation was headed societally and culturally. Think about this, America...
In his broadcast he revealed what he would do if he were “the devil,” to destroy our American culture and undermine our collective societal standards and social mores. His message continues to serve as a warning to “All Americans” today of where our society is going if we, uncaringly and uncourageously, don’t steer the ship away from the Rocks that beckon U.S. to our doom!
To the young, I would whisper that ‘The Bible is a myth. ’ I would convince them that man created God instead of the otherway around. I would confide that what’s bad is good, and what’s good is ‘square . ’ And the old, I would teach to pray, after me, ‘Our Father, which art inWashington…
And then I’d get organized. I’d educate authors in how to make lurid literatureexciting, so thatanything else wouldappear dull anduninteresting . I’d threaten TV with dirtier movies and vice versa. I’d pedal narcotics to whom I could. I’d sell alcohol to ladies and gentlemen of distinction. I’d tranquilize the rest withpills .
If I were thedevil, I’d soon have families at war with themselves, churches at war with themselves, and nations at war with themselves; until each in its turn was consumed. And with promises of higher ratings I’dhavemesmerizing mediafanning the flames .

All that remains of the historic birthplace of the Marines is a marker on I-95 where the Tun Tavern once stood.
November 10, 1775 - A Historic day in the USA - The Second Continental Congress meets at Independence Hall to pass a resolution to raise two battalions of Marines ...commissioning Samuel Nicholas as the “First Marine” - who is now responsible for rallying the troops! The resolution was drafted and that very day, history and a sharp Marine salute, was made with a toast!
The now, “Captain” Nicholas got right to work with a celebratory steak and cold beer at Peggy Mullan’s Red Hot Beef Steak Club at Tun Tavern, where he also ended up setting up his new hiring quarters. Conveniently and smartly, Captain Nichols’ first appointment was Robert Mullan, the proprietor of the Tun Tavern. Mullan was promoted, with the job of Chief Marine Recruiter - serving from none other than his place of business at the Tun.
How’s that for a new gig?
Yes Sir - Thanks a Tun, Sir & Cheers Sergeant - Sir !
Prospective recruits flocked to the tavern, lured by cold beer, a steak dinner, and the opportunity to serve in the new Corps of Marines You might call it the United States first “Draft.” Yes, Ma’am and Yes, Sir, the U.S. Marine Corps was indeed born in the Tun Tavern...and “Surprise, Surprise”, both the tavern and the Marine Corps continued to flourish. Cheers to the U.S. Marines 250th.

A Unique Partnership in Preserving History
“The National Museum of the Marine Corps is the result of a unique public–private partnership between the United States Marine Corps and the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation (MCHF). The Foundation raised the funds to build the Museum and continues to support its growth through education, preservation, and outreach programs beyond what government resources alone can provide, while the United States Marine Corps manages the exhibits, collections, and daily operations. Together, this partnership ensures the story of America’s Marines is preserved and shared with future generations, inspiring pride, scholarship, and understanding of the Corps’ legacy ” Visit: www.marineheritage.org

You honor it by how you contribute to your communities, and most importantly, you honor it in how you fight and win the nation's battles.

”AMERICA STRONG” ...and smart again! with some “Basic” Training
Doesn’t that seem like a sensible principle? Ever heard from your parents or said to you children, “Study hard, get good grades, go to College, get a good job, make money and enjoy life?”
that little thing called Learningand acquiring PROPER knowledge.
Sounds reasonable, but how about
If we are being honest with ourselves and taking an accurate look at “Education” in America, the Nation is in serious need of helpand much more discipline is needed.
OH, _ELL NO! - now you’ve gone-and-done-it, AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL 250 - DISCIPLINE?
... REALLY? ... COME-ON! We’re going to start throwing a fit, if we have got to hear any more.
Really America! “Getting back to Basics”
- It all starts there, and we as a Nation have gotten far away from that which started American Education in the first place
D-I-S-C-I-P-L-I-N-E
“MAKE IT STOP!”
(And that’s just from the adults in the room).
“Okay, Class - Let’s Settle Down” “That’s not really a word America get so worked up about.”...“Really!”
Discipline, What does
it really mean anyway?
REALLY, AMERICA?
According to the American Dictionary of the English Language:
The word "discipline" comes from the Latin “disciplina”, meaning "instruction and training,” and “discere”, meaning "to learn"
1. noun [Latin , to learn ] Education; instruction; cultivation and improvement, comprehending instruction in arts, sciences, correct sentiments, morals and manners, and due subordination to authority. (i.e. the teacher) -
Noah Webster Webster’s Dictionary (You know, that book with the meaning of words)
2. verb transitive [To instruct or educate]; to inform the mind; to prepare by instructing in correct principles and habits; as, to discipline youth for a profession, or for future usefulness.
Now - that was really something hard to hear, wasn’t it America? Are you ready for a little more fright, or do you think “WE THE PEOPLE” are going to blow “U.S.’es” lids? “Say, what?”
TAKE A DEEP BREATH, YOU ARE GOING TO BE ALRIGHT !
Now ... let’s turn the page America. (if you need to take a little time-out, pause here)
How crazy is that “ALL AMERICANS”
WOW - THIS MIGHT BE SOME HARD WORK FOR U.S.
Was it “just beginning” or “was it over” when the Romans first came to America, and started the fight?
Romans???
Forget about it... “The early settlers” were on a roll. And it appears, looking around U.S., that America’s intellect, sensibilities, and discipline are too - in a negative direction “All Americans” should recognize
So, getting back on topic, class ... this will certainly require discipline. And now that we are back to the beginning, here is something for U.S. to give some thought to: America’s first college was none other than Harvard College - which was founded in 1636.
Interestingly (to stress & reiterate the topic at hand), Harvard's original founding statement and mission was: "To be plainly instructed and consider well that the main end of your life and studies is to
know God and Jesus Christ.” Harvard exclusively hired Christian professors, and the primary focus of education was character formation in all its students. DISCIPLINE & DISCIPLESHIP - The very same! While Harvard’s academic excellence is still top-shelf, it’s DISCIPLINE is 180-degrees from what the founders envisioned and set out to achieve in educating students. During Harvard’s 350th anniversary (1986), a former president of Johns Hopkins University, emphatically stated, "The bad news is the university has become godless.” That too, is the bad news for American Education at large - so lacking and in much need of that ever-present help of: D-I-S-C-I-P-L-I-N-E !!

A Nugget of Wisdom from a Founding Father
"The eyes of all America are upon U.S. As we play our part, posterity will bless or curse U.S.” General Henry Knox
Promoting Awesome American Citizenship
And who was this Founding Father, General Henry Knox?...
With these “Noble” Nugget of Wisdom Words for U.S.
Ever heard of Fort Knox?
WELL, AMERICA, “THAT’S THE GUY”!
(And there is much more to tell, about himHe was quite a guy, who loved and fought for America and our U.S. treasures - literally)
First, here’s another of his nuggets of wisdom: The man keeping his Eyes on the
“We want great men (and women) who, when fortune frowns, will not be discouraged.”
Henry Knox stared out the frosted window of “His” bookshop - “The London Book Shop”- gazing in wonder, into the blistery cold of that unforgettable Boston morning, where he sat quietly in amazementpondering the magnificent moment, he had just experienced This certainly would be an unforgettable day. And little did he know it then, this very moment in time, would soon forge his destiny. “How could this be,” his admiring brain thought to himself. “Did this really just happen?” he silently mused, steeping this “very real” day-dream, into his thought: “There’s no way!”
In this mesmerizing interplay of thought, a glimpse of his own shadow being cast upon the window, caught his attention with a softly whispered yet inaudible word, accompanying the reflection: “Remember...”
As if in a trance, this shadowy figure of his still young self, immediately took him back to his difficult childhood, where at the age of nine, his father passed away. There was a faintness to this and a sudden next passage of thought to also having to leave his childhood classmates at the Boston Latin School behind.
Hand now clasping his brow and covering his closed eyes, he vaguely remembered the work he had to attend to instead of school, so to help his mother and siblings It was a bookstore... Yes, he could remember. He remembered the books in his hands that he scoured through and read to himself so to become the selftaught scholar that he was - especially in the disciplines of science and military history. He loved those books.
He loved the learning. He loved the military history he had read much about. And he loved ... then it hit him...
All at once, he was back now to 19, on the Boston streets - It was March 5th! How could he forget that horrifying day? He was shaking and sitting with a town constable - giving an affidavit to the nightmare of that “Boston Massacre” he had just witnessed firsthand, right there! “I’m nineteen sir,” he recollected saying to the officer, in the interview. “Henry Knox, sir.” He saw himself re-writing in his affidavit: “I attempted to pacify the situation.” And then with a gasp of breath, a grimace and subtle shake of his head, he let out a heavy sigh. With his eyes now opening, he could sense his hand over his heart and his reflection looking back at him, beckoning him to recall the short time afterwards when he opened the doors of his new store “Twenty years old,” his recollection retracing the a gleam in his spirit, as he first turned the “The London Book Shop - It’s mine!”
Just then, as if on a celestial que, the bell door jingled, to welcome a new guest snap young Henry out of his thought and promptly back to the excitement of the event he experience only moments before, including the trance he just relived. “Hello and welcome to the London Book Store,” Henry, gleefully chimed. “Hello”, the inquisitive guest quickly replied, while pointing out the window and stating in amazement & awe, “Was that George Washington?” “Why, Yes ma’am, it was ... That was my new friend General George Washington, in MY STORE - WOW”...

WOW, is right! And now, if that AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL 250 rendition of the story, captured your attention to the introduction of Henry Knox, then you, dear ”All American,” will be impressed with what happened next, as YOU reflect upon your life’s journey and what’s waiting in store for you, just around the corner: ONWARD - Troops... All of U.S. have a very important “America” mission to accomplish!
In the chance encounter at the London Book Shop, that very remarkable Boston morning, General Washington came to learn of Knox’s military knowledge, expertise and determined grit. General Washington must have been really impressed! (Possibly, much like what President Trump saw in - and upon - the chance meetings with General John Daniel "Raizin” Caine and Pete Hegsethtwo “All Americans” who he, being so impressed with, would appoint to lead our modern-day, U.S. troops - But that’s two other great “All American” stories for another day - Keep your eyes out for these “Amazing USA stories”).
Following in the determined and sturdy footsteps of General Henry Knox, let U S lace our boots and march on:
Now at age 25, in December of 1775, this selftaught “military expert,” with his personally-gained knowledge in engineering and artillery, would become a volunteer in the patriot army at the Battle of Bunker Hill under General Ward. General George Washington was so impressed with the Henry’s abilities while working under General Ward that he appointed Knox to the rank of Colonel in command of the Continental Regiment of Artillery. This appointment led to his first major assignment of retrieving captured artillery by Ethan Allen from Fort Ticonderoga. The British had controlled this fort at the beginning of the Revolutionary War, but under the invasions led by Ethan Allen and Benedict Arnold, it was captured in May 1775. Henry Knox’s job was to lead a party to transport the seized cannons and artillery to Boston and then to assist in the siege against the British there. Young Henry Knox was up for the challenge, and his leadership capabilities proved fortuitous. He led the troops and moved some 60,000 tons of these British cannons and mortar over 300 miles from Fort Ticonderoga to Boston. This was accomplished and ultimately led to the evacuation of the British troops from Boston This courageous and treacherous 56-day long military drive - The Noble Train of Artillery - would soon change the course of the Revolutionary War (Much more to tell, about Henry Knox in future issues).
