Chief of Medical Services, OneWorld Community Health Centers, Inc.

arah Miller is the Chief of Medical Services for OneWorld Community Health Centers. She holds bachelor’s degrees in biology and nursing from Creighton University. She earned her master’s degree in nursing, specializing in pediatrics, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2007. Sarah began her career at OneWorld as a registered nurse in 2002. Throughout her tenure, Miller has served as a Nurse, Nurse practitioner, Interim Nursing Director, the Associate Director of School-Based Health Centers and the Teen and Young Adult Health Centers, and Interim Co-Chief Medical Officer. In her current position since 2021, Miller oversees quality and process improvement in clinical settings and assists with the nursing organizational strategy. She also maintains her clinical role as a nurse practitioner, keeping her perspective rooted in care.

Andrea Gonzalez Saavedra, OTR/L, CBIS, CPAM - Primary Occupational Therapist, Nebraska Medicine

Andrea Gonzalez Saavedra serves as the primary occupational therapist on the Cardiovascular ICU at Nebraska Medicine, where she provides care for patients following cardiac surgeries, heart and lung transplants, and LVAD implantation. She works with individuals supported by advanced cardiac devices, including balloon pumps, Impellas, ECMO, and RVADs, and also specializes in inpatient lymphedema treatment. In addition, she provides rehabilitation for Spanish-speaking patients who are uninsured or undocumented—often those recovering from strokes, spinal cord injuries, and complex traumas who cannot access rehabilitation facilities. As Nebraska’s first bilingual Certified Brain Injury Specialist, Gonzalez Saavedra is passionate about bridging language and access gaps to ensure every patient receives equitable, compassionate, and high-quality care. These experiences have inspired her to pursue research on cognition, neuro deficits, and how interpreter modes impact the accuracy of cognitive assessments.

Verdin, BHS-PH, RDH - Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH), 370 Dental

Care

Kaylie Verdin, BHS-PH, RDH exemplifies excellence in health care through her dedication to equitable and community-centered dental care. As a bilingual registered dental hygienist at 370 Dental Care, she provides comprehensive oral and systemic health care to diverse populations in the Greater Omaha area. Her volunteer efforts extend locally and internationally, reflecting her passion for expanding access to preventive oral health services among underserved populations. Kaylie also serves as Secretary and Public Health Committee Chair for the Nebraska Dental Hygienists’ Association and was honored with the 2025 NDHA Community Service of the Year Award for her outstanding contributions.

Maureen R. Tierney-Brennan, MD, MSc - Associate Dean for Clinical Research and Public Health, Creighton University School of Medicine

Dr. Maureen Tierney-Brennan is Associate Dean of Clinical Research and Public Health at Creighton’s School of Medicine, and director of clinical research at CHI Health. She received her MD from Cornell and a Master’s in Health Policy. Moving to Nebraska in 2008, she became Director of the state program to fight Antimicrobial Resistance and was part of Nebraska’s COVID-19 response especially in long term care. At CU, she has grown clinical research and expanded the MPH program. She leads the Creighton Community Collaborative to reduce gaps in SDOH and is researching ways to improve primary care of adults with Autism.

Payton Conrad, BSN, RN - Children’s Nebraska

Payton Conrad, BSN, RN, earned a Bachelor’s in Health Science from the University of Missouri and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Central Methodist University. She has spent the past five years as a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Children’s Nebraska in Omaha, where she also helped establish the hospital’s Neonatal Transport Team. Passionate about improving outcomes for premature infants, Payton leads The HOPE Project — a neonatal resuscitation initiative providing rural healthcare facilities with standardized kits and evidence-based guidance to enhance care and reduce morbidity and mortality among preterm newborns.

Anne D. Carroll - Volunteer, Habitat for Humanity Omaha, Crossroads Connection Prison Ministry, Siena Francis House, Family and Friends of the Incarcerated

Anne D. Carroll’s primary involvement has been with Habitat for Humanity – both International and the Omaha chapter. She has led 19 Global Village work trips to destinations as far away as Kyrgyzstan and continues to volunteer locally in Omaha. Carroll is also deeply committed to volunteering within the Nebraska prison system as a sponsor and visitor, as well as through the Crossroads Connection prison ministry. In addition, she volunteers at the Siena Francis House. Having grown up in Mexico and Trinidad, Carroll has a lifelong love of travel. Another of her passions is organizing and decluttering spaces. She recently returned from her second trip to Hungary, where she helped a friend by clearing out an apartment and garage.

My little girl dreams were to be married, have a family, teach school, have a business, help others, enjoy hobbies and activities, and live in the woods. After 60 years of marriage to Paul, three children, seven grandchildren, three retail businesses, 20 years of teaching, and a lifetime of volunteering, my dreams are realized.

Highlights: Founding Marion Marsh Brown Author Lecture Series; Founding Benson High School Foundation with Paul, and at 84-4/5 leading a campaign to raise 6.5 million for ball fields for Benson.

Debra Kaplan - Westside Community Schools Educator (retired), Community Photographer

Debra Kaplan had a stellar career in the Westside Community Schools, teaching and developing curriculum for special needs and elementary children in physical education. As a creative and passionate ‘out of the box’ educator, she’s had lifelong impact on students and their families. An unexpected retirement due to what one could call, the ‘baby boomer buy out’, she retired not knowing what chapter would come next. She always had a camera in hand, documenting life from her early years with film and now digitally. Debra Kaplan’s volunteerism is organic; doing little to make it happen, except for being present and developing relationships. This has joyfully exploded into supporting the missions of endless nonprofits with photography, primarily focusing on youth, mental health, the arts and health/wellness.

Jodi Jefferson - Veteran and Owner / Operator, Busy Bee Baking Company, Inc.

Jodi Jefferson is a proud veteran, small business owner, and dedicated community advocate. As the owner of Busy Bee Baking Company, Inc. she combines her love for baking with her passion for service, leading the company’s annual Thanksgiving Bake Sale for Charity, which has raised over $60,000 for local nonprofits. Jodi also serves as a board member for the 50 Mile March, a powerful movement supporting veterans facing homelessness and mental health challenges. Through her business and volunteer work, she continues to inspire others by giving back, uplifting her community, and living out her commitment to service and impact.

Gwen’s Gift is a heartwarming 501(3)c organization dedicated to making the holiday season special for residents of memory care facilities. Each year, they set up incredible shopping events, one every day for 15 days in December. This innovative approach not only brightens the holidays but also helps to bring joy and excitement to seniors who may otherwise feel isolated. With the help of Sandie and her devoted volunteers, the event transforms a typical day into a memorable experience, complete with live music and gift wrapping. Residents can pick out presents for their family and friends, ensuring that no one is left out during this joyous season.

Policy Fellow, Reproductive Health Collaborative Nebraska

leo Zagurski is an advocate, researcher, and community leader committed to advancing health equity, reproductive justice, and civic engagement. A proud 2025 Creighton graduate, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Administration and Policy and Public Health while conducting award-winning research on gender-related policies, medical education, and the policymaking process. Cleo currently works full-time as the Policy Fellow and Lobbyist for the Reproductive Health Collaborative Nebraska, and part-time as the Director of Policy, Research, and Operations for NEw Voices, a community project she co-founded to advance youth civic engagement and candidate cultivation across Nebraska. She is now pursuing her Master of Public Administration at the University of Nebraska - Omaha while engaging in research studying Nebraska maternal and infant health community health workers at Creighton University’s College of Nursing. Cleo also serves on the board of the League of Women Voters of Greater Omaha and on the Youth Advisory Council at the Women’s Fund of Omaha.

Clarice Dombeck - Senior Campaign Organizer, The Redress Movement

Clarice Dombeck is an emerging urban planner, urban farmer, creative placemaker, and community organizer. She serves on several boards, including as an elected representative for the Regional Metropolitan Transit Authority. Grounded in Black Studies and Sociology, her work centers Black people’s history, experiences, and expertise. Clarice has contributed to projects in North Omaha such as the North Omaha Trail, Fabric Lab, and Thriving Communities. She leads Healing Roots African Diaspora Garden, a Black-led community garden honoring the African Diaspora. Clarice is pursuing a Master’s in Urban Studies to advance reparative justice in housing, mobility, and the environment.

Mary Foster - Outsourced Family Office Specialist, Private Wealth Asset Management

Mary is the co-founder of Elkhorn Investments, a venture capital fund supporting innovative startups across the Midwest, and serves as an outsourced family office specialist at Private Wealth Asset Management, where she contributes to strategic financial operations for high-net-worth families. She is also the founder of Financial Literacy: Educating Today, Empowering Tomorrow, an initiative through which she has taught over 400 Omaha-area students essential money management skills. A recognized community leader, Mary partners with organizations like Financial Beginnings Nebraska and the Junior League of Omaha, combining her passion for education, entrepreneurship, and economic development to create lasting impact across the region.

Natalija Dominguez - Construction Project Engineer, Habitat for Humanity of Omaha

Natalija (Nata) Dominguez is a licensed Civil Engineer and graduate of the University of Nebraska. She plays a pivotal role in designing and managing the construction of affordable homes and neighborhoods in Omaha. “I like making an impact on the community,” she says. With more than six years of experience, she has worked on numerous projects across Nebraska, and her knowledge of local infrastructure and commitment to equitable development make her a key contributor to Habitat’s mission. She has a servant’s heart, not only for Habitat Omaha families, but as a soccer coach for P.A.C.E. and animal rescue volunteer.

Sierra Roseby - Director of Involvement,

University of Nebraska - Omaha

Sierra Roseby serves as the Director of Involvement at UNO, where she leads student engagement, retention, and leadership development initiatives. First-generation graduate - Sierra, empowers students to navigate college with confidence and purpose. She partners across the campus community to build access, belonging, and mentorship opportunities for thousands of students each year. Her impact radiates throughout the greater Omaha area, where she invests her time serving young professionals and community members, including through the Omaha Performing Arts Voices Amplified Committee, amplifying connection and creativity. She is leading a charge to help others overcome barriers and discover their power to lead.

enise M. McCauley is President and CEO of WoodmenLife, where she has led transformative strategic and culture-related initiatives since 2008. Her leadership was recognized in 2019 with the Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award from the University of Nebraska - Omaha and the 2011 Leadership Light of Wellness Award from Welcom. McCauley currently serves on the Boards of LIMRA/LOMA, the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, and the United Way of the Midlands. Her past service includes Food Bank for the Heartland, Welcom, and the Aksarben Foundation. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Nebraska - Omaha and brings a lifelong commitment to service and leadership excellence.

Denise is also committed to developing others, fostering inclusive leadership, and empowering individuals to own their career journeys. As President & CEO of WoodmenLife, Denise has cultivated a culture where mentorship is not only encouraged but embedded into the fabric of the organization. From the outset of her tenure at WoodmenLife, Denise has been a cornerstone of the company’s mentoring program, setting a tone of openness and accessibility that resonates throughout the organization. She was instrumental in developing WoodmenLife’s Revela Coaching program, designed to equip leaders with the tools to coach and lead effectively.

Anayeli Martinez-Real - Project Executive, Kiewit

Anayeli is a Project Executive for Kiewit Building Group. She joined Kiewit in 2007. Her first project was renovation of the Lasting Hope Recovery Center in Omaha. Anayeli worked on several different projects and departments throughout her career. She has 18 years of construction experience in Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, Arizona, California, and Hawaii. As Project Executive, Anayeli ensures budget, schedule, and quality meet or exceed client’s expectations. Anayeli graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Engineering with minor in Mathematics from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. She currently serves on the Metropolitan Community College’s (MCC) Foundation Board, MCC Small Business Contractor Academy Volunteer Instructor and Judge, Latino Economic Development Council Board of Director, United Hispanic Contractor Association Board of Director, and University of Nebraska – Lincoln Kiewit Scholars Advisory Board. Born in Mexico, spent her childhood in California, she now resides in Omaha with her husband, son, daughter, and cockapoo.

Roberta Christensen chairs Koley Jessen’s Intellectual Property Practice Group, where she provides practical, strategic counsel on intellectual property matters with a particular emphasis on trademark law. She is recognized by Chambers as “helpful, creative and sensitive to client needs” and is consistently listed in The Best Lawyers in America® for Copyright, Technology, and Trademark Law. With extensive experience in the development, purchase, and licensing of intellectual property, Roberta has drafted and negotiated a wide range of agreements. She frequently speaks on intellectual property topics and previously served as Chair of the Nebraska State Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Section.

Robin Larsen - President & CEO, Cobalt Credit Union

A trailblazer in financial leadership with more than 37 years of dedicated service, Robin Larsen has devoted her career to empowering members and strengthening the communities she proudly serves through her work at Cobalt Credit Union. As President and CEO, she leads with vision, integrity, and heart, advancing innovation while honoring the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People.” Under her leadership, Cobalt serves more than 120,000 members and manages over $1.3 billion in assets. Beyond financial services, Robin’s commitment to community and military engagement shines through her roles as Co-Commander of the 55th Maintenance Group and Treasurer of the Offutt Advisory Council, supporting initiatives that benefit veterans and families. Through her positive, action-oriented leadership style, Steph has been instrumental in shaping both Lutz’s award-winning culture and its comprehensive HR offerings. As a woman-owned business, Albany and Avers is dedicated to celebrating individuality, size inclusivity, and self-expression. Believing that no two bodies are the same, the shop sources unique, high-quality pieces from past decades to bring both joy and confidence to their shoppers’ closets. In addition to running Albany and Avers, Amanda is the force behind Omaha Flea and the Dundee Vintage Market, two beloved events that bring together community, local businesses, and sustainability. She is also the founder of the Green Thread Guild, a collective that weaves sustainability into each of its initiatives, while educating the local community and inspiring more conscious living across Omaha.

Owner and Founder of The Carrito, an innovative, Latin woman–owned snack business that brings joy and connection to every event it serves. Born and raised in Mexico moved to the U.S., embraced a new culture, and now raises three little girls alongside her husband. She balances being an Interior Design student at MCC with her role as Manager of the Microbusiness Program at Catholic Charities, where she empowers entrepreneurs to achieve their dreams. Through both her business and nonprofit work, she uplifts her community and enjoys giving back, showing resilience, love, and determination while dreaming big for her family and The Carrito.

Shannon Bingham has been the co-owner of Seven Salon + Boutique for over 21 years. She is also a celebrated philanthropist, award winning social media influencer, Chair of a DHHS state board, keynote speaker, international traveling educator, wife, Nebraska Merit Mother of the Year, and ‘25 Ultimate International Elite Mrs., a global title. She is a strong voice for organizations, is an adoptive mother and advocate/ mentor for adoptive/foster families, and had the privilege of speaking at the governor’s proclamation for Adoption Awareness Month.

Victoria Mbachu - President, Parking Area Maintenance

Victoria Mbachu is the owner of Parking Area Maintenance, a veteranand woman-owned company that has proudly served Omaha for more than 40 years. A retired Army officer with over 20 years of construction leadership, she has managed projects worldwide and now brings that expertise to strengthen the local community. Beyond business, Victoria is actively involved in local organizations, mentorship programs, and community boards. arol Salerno grew up on an acreage with her parents, Jim and Josephine Lohmeier, her first and best teachers along with her four sisters. She and her sisters spent their summers picking thistles in the pasture and riding their horses through the rolling hills and forest connected to their property.

Inspired by her 7th and 8th grade teacher, Sr. Elizabeth, at St. Philip Neri, and by several teachers at Roncalli, Salerno discovered academic confidence that guided her educational journey. She went on to graduate from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln with dual degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education. She later returned to school to earn her master’s degree in Administration and an ESL Endorsement.

Carol motivates her students to recognize the value of education and believe in their ability to move forward. She teaches self-awareness, confidence, and essential social skills that empower many underprivileged students throughout their lives. As a role model for both teachers and paraprofessionals, Carol exemplifies dedication and compassion. Her lifelong commitment to teaching and children is truly unwavering.

Anne Kleinschmit - ACP Teacher, Fontenelle Elementary School

Anne Kleinschmit teaches in the Alternate Curriculum Program at Fontenelle Elementary, where she works with students who have significant academic, life skills, and physical needs. Her classroom focuses on helping each child grow in independence, communication, and confidence through individualized instruction and hands-on learning experiences. While each day looks a little different, every day is filled with patience, creativity, and collaboration. Kleinschmit proudly represents both her building and the Alternate Curriculum Program with the Omaha Education Association, advocating for inclusion and educator support. Teaching in this program is a true honor for her, offering challenges that are deeply meaningful and endlessly rewarding.

Jane Christie Pirnat - Mentor Teacher Supervisor, Educare Omaha at Indian Hill

Jane Pirnat is a Mentor Teacher Supervisor with Educare of Omaha, Inc., where she strengthens classroom quality and develops the early-childhood workforce through coaching, reflective supervision, and science/nature-rich learning. She also teaches early-childhood courses and coaches CDA candidates at Metropolitan Community College. Growing up as a military dependent, Jane learned the importance of volunteering, adaptability, and supporting others. Beyond work, Jane uplifts others by coaching personal goals at the gym, teaching flyball classes at her dog club, or leading CDA workshops - bringing guidance, energy and heart to everything she does.

Sharon Ishii-Jordan, Ph.D. - Professor Emerita of Education, Creighton University

Dr. Sharon Ishii-Jordan has been committed to professional education as a teacher and/or administrator in private and public sectors spanning K-12, ESL for adults in Japan and Omaha, and undergraduate and graduate levels at universities. Her research and presentations have focused on special education, concomitant ESL/disabilities, and Asian American history. Although retired, she continues her lifelong commitment to education supervising student teachers, serving on doctoral committees, and substitute teaching. Sharon also devotes herself to global traveling, service in her faith and community needs, and Asian American cultural preservation and policies. Her life reflects deep gratitude, compassion, and service to others.

Ty Nared - Director of Belonging, Marian High School

Ty Nared, a proud Marian alumna, serves as the Director of Belonging at Marian High School, where she works to ensure that every student, faculty, and staff member feels seen, supported, and valued. She leads initiatives that advance inclusion and equity across campus, launching the school’s period equity program through Aunt Flow, creating the Crusader Closet, and guiding student leaders through organizations that celebrate identity and belonging. Raised in rural Nebraska, Dani Landholm began her fire service journey at 14 as a volunteer, later re-establishing a fire cadet program and founding the Bennington Firefighters Memorial Foundation. A Wayne State graduate and former teacher, Dani joined the Omaha Fire Department in 2012, became a paramedic, and was promoted to Captain in 2021. As Fire Academy Leader, she emphasizes accountability, teamwork, and service. A proud Local 385 member, Dani advocates for firefighter health, family planning, and women’s Personal Protective Equipment. She also teaches, volunteers in her church and community, and enjoys outdoor adventures with her husband, Sam, and their children.

Jo Giles - Executive Director, Women’s Fund of Omaha

As executive director of the Women’s Fund of Omaha, Jo leads efforts to address gender-based inequities through research, collaboration, and strategic funding that drive lasting impact. Previously, she served as Policy and Training Director for the Coalition for a Strong Nebraska, helping nonprofits engage in public policy advocacy. An award-winning journalist and media relations professional, Jo worked as a reporter and anchor for Omaha’s KPTM Fox 42 News. She holds a master’s in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia, a bachelor’s from Washington University in St. Louis, and a public health certificate from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Jo serves on several community boards and enjoys reading, running, and time with her husband, son, and goldendoodle.

Born and raised in North Omaha, Racquel Henderson is a fearless leader and community advocate dedicated to education, equity, and opportunity. As Community Liaison for North Omaha in the Mayor’s Office, she bridges the gap between residents and City Hall to ensure community voices shape policy and access to resources. She also serves as Director of Programs & Strategic Partnerships at EPIC for Girls, empowering girls of color in sports, and works with the Lived Experience Project to uplift system-impacted youth. A professor at the University of Nebraska – Omaha and Lincoln, Racquel challenges students to engage critically with race and justice. Dr. Vivyonne (Viv) Ewing, a dynamic business executive and community leader from Omaha, Nebraska. Debbie Grafentin - Director, The Volleyball Academy and River City Juniors Club

Debbie Grafentin has coached for a total of 53 years including volleyball, swimming, basketball, softball, and soccer. Her coaching experience spans the high school level, college, and in club volleyball. Since 2006, Grafentin has directed and co-owned The Volleyball Academy (TVA), where she works with youth and adult players in leagues, camps, lessons, and tournaments. She also co-owns River City Juniors Club, which has been active in club volleyball for 38 years. Throughout her career, she has coached two National Champions, three National Runner-ups, and numerous top-10 teams. Grafentin currently works with Omaha Public Schools middle school volleyball programs to help players and coaches improve their skills and knowledge of the sport. She previously taught at Millard North from 1982 to 1996, served as an assistant coach at Creighton University from 1996 to 1997, and was Professor and Head Volleyball Coach at Bellevue University from 2000 to 2006. She has been recognized for her contributions to athletics with induction into the Northwest High School Hall of Fame in 2019 and the Omaha Public Schools Athletic Hall of Fame in 2025.

Erin Sullivan is a longtime volunteer and leader in the swimming, biking, and running community in Omaha. She always wanted to share her love of being active with young people, regardless of their ability or means to participate. That vision led to the creation of the Ironhawk Juniors Triathlon Club – a free program for girls ages 7-14. Each Junior is provided all equipment needed to participate, free swim and bike lessons, and a free summer program. Erin’s enthusiasm has encouraged hundreds of girls to be strong, confident and physically fit individuals.

Hannah Smith - University of Nebraska - Omaha Clinical and Mental Health Counseling Student, Creighton University Student Counseling Intern, Omaha North Head Junior Varsity Coach

Hannah Smith grew up in Papillion, Nebraska. She earned a BA in Psychology with a minor in Exercise Science from Buena Vista University, where she played collegiate volleyball for four years and was actively involved on campus as a mentor, orientation leader, vice president for student organizations, and member of the admission team. After playing volleyball for 14 years, Hannah has now been coaching for nearly nine years and plans to continue coaching. She is completing her master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at UNO and currently serves as a Counseling Student Intern at Creighton University. Hannah is passionate about empowering and supporting the journeys of individuals, athletes, and young women like those who shaped her.

Marquis “Keys” Haynes is the Founder and CEO of The Keys Foundation, a women-led nonprofit in Omaha dedicated to uplifting young women through mentorship, education, and athletics. Isabella is a junior at UNO pursuing a degree in Journalism and Media Communications with a Concentration in Emerging Media.
