DEDICATION

Brother Xaverius C.F.X.

In his five years a t Good Counsel, Brother Xaverius has m aintained the tedious job of Treasurer. Although his work has often gone unnoticed, his im portance has always been realized . His quiet m anner of doing things has won for him the deep respect of everyone associated w ith him . This year, however, represents som ething far more im portant for him than any past years. On May 20, Brother celebrated his Golden Jubilee as aX averian Brother. That day m arked his fiftieth year in the service of God and his fellow rnan. It is in recognition of this that we, the staff of the ’67 FALCON, dedicate this yearbook to him.

Brother Charles Borrom eo, C.F.X.—PRINCIPAL

Brother Charles Borromeo b e c a m e Good Counsel’s third principal last Septem ber when he was transferred here from N azareth High School in Brooklyn, New York. Brother taught Religion and English as w ell as serving as a guidance director there. His past experience as a Principal com es from M alden C atholic High School in Massachussetts and Ryken High School in Leonardtown, M aryland. Many students got to know our new principal very w ell as he roam ed the halls before and after school. Brother Charles even taught a few classes in the first weeks of school. Good Counsel has already b enefited from som e of Brother’s work and there are m any ideas for th e future. The already broadened English curriculum w ill be extended even further next year. Also the religion courses w ill have a new approach toward Christian Ethics. T he m ain p ro ject that Brother has in mind for the distant future is a second floor on the science wing. New classrooms and at least one laboratory hope to be added. If th e plans are followed, this year’s Freshmen m ay see th e addition. A fter one year Good Counsel already owes a great debt of thanks to our new p rin cip al.

B rother A lberic, C .F .X .-D IR E C T O R OF STUDIES With the transfer of Brother Vincentius from Good Counsel this year, Brother A lberic stepped in and took over as D irector of Studies and com bined this post w ith his form er position as Director of Students. One of Brother’s ideas for this year was already planned last spring. T he new exam and sem ester schedule was set up and ready for trial this year. Student response was overwhelmingly in favor of the preChristmas first sem ester and w hole-heartily approved of Brother A lberic’s innovation. Brother is m oderator of the N ational Honor Society and has worked very hard in its tutoring program. Student tutors and X averian scho lastics have helped m any a lagging pupil this year. In the years to com e Brother hopes to expand or at least “ m odern iz e ” some of Good Counsel’s curriculum . Already planned for next year is a course in econom ics, and a third foreign language, Spanish. Brother is w ell satisfied w ith the school spirit, discipline and study, and he hopes they continue to satisfy him . Many students owe a lot to Brother A lberic for his endless work and the staff of the FALCON, therefore, salutes him .

Buddy T u ck er scored three tim es and Bob S pencer o n ce in a g am e w hich fe atu red F a lco n b a ll co ntrol and hardnosed defensive p la y . T he Falcons then journeyed to C um berland to play Fort H ill. Early in the G am e the S entinels scored on a blocked punt to tak e a one touchdow n le a d . But w ith 57 seconds le ft Buddy T u ck er ca u g h t the S entinels off guard as he fired a screen pass to N ick Pecoraro who raced 68 yards for a sco re. Extra p o in t sp e c ia list M ike Berrang booted the conversion to m ake th e fin a l score 7 -7 . A gainst Episcopal, the Falcons w ere u nable to stop the M aroon's running a tta c k . Rich Eiden, a new com er fro m C a th ed ral L atin, showed h im self as a fin e shooter and hustling defensive p la y e r. Ed F itz g e ra ld , G .C .'s first sophom ore sta rte r, m aneuvered w ell under th e boards and led the F a lc o n 's in rebounding. Ed Roper, a 6 '3 " senior p lay in g in his first season, gave th e Falcons added scoring and rebounding strength un d ern eath .
