Welcome to Vida OLE! Dear Friends, We are so pleased you have chosen to be with us. Tonight, we celebrate a remarkable milestone: 40 years of the OLE Health Foundation and four decades of our community coming together to make sure that everyone who lives, works, and visits the Napa Valley has access to the care they need to live happier and healthier lives. But tonight is about more than looking back. It is about imagining what comes next. OLE Health’s story began in St. Helena in 1972, when a humble one-room clinic led by all-volunteer staff opened its doors. Since that time, OLE has continued to grow alongside this community. Yet, remarkably, we have never had a permanent home in the town where our story began. That changes now. As we gather together tonight on the lawn at Quintessa, we begin a $5 million capital campaign to create a permanent home for OLE’s St. Helena clinic on Pine Street, right in the heart of downtown. This new facility will do more than provide a beautiful and welcoming place to receive care. It will double OLE’s medical care services in St. Helena and bring critical behavioral health services on-site, making comprehensive care more accessible and convenient for the people who need it most. It is a bold vision, but Napa Valley has always been a community willing to dream boldly. And, more importantly, to make those dreams possible. With your support over the years, our community’s generosity has made possible permanent homes for our two health centers in Napa and most recently for Calistoga, where we will break ground later this fall. Now as we double down on St. Helena, we put down roots where we saw our very first patients. As you raise your paddle tonight, know that you are not simply making a gift. Darioush Khaledi approaches every facet of his life with vision and determination. From building a successful grocery business that made healthy food more accessible for working families to creating one of Napa Valley’s most recognizable wineries, he has brought that same drive in his service to OLE Health Foundation and our community. For more than two decades, including two terms as Board Chair, Darioush has been committed to building a healthier Napa Valley through food and wellness programs that have helped thousands of local families live healthier lives. The OLE Health Foundation Board of Directors is proud to recognize his longstanding commitment with the 2026 John Shafer Visionary Award.

Darioush was first introduced to OLE Health by John Shafer when the community came together to build a permanent home for what is now the North Napa Campus. Inspired by John’s dedication and the transformational impact of the new health center, Darioush looked for ways to channel his passion for health and wellness into helping people build healthier lives through fresh food, education, and hands-on learning. This vision led to the creation of the Darioush Community Garden at the South Napa Campus, which today provides thousands of pounds of free, fresh produce to our community. His support for a permanent food and wellness educator, alongside cooking and gardening education, helps make healthy living accessible and fun for patients of all ages, from children to seniors. And, in keeping with Darioush’s original vision, its doors are open to everyone. In 2020, Darioush was elected Board Chair of the OLE Health Foundation, acting as a guide and stabilizing force during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. His leadership was also instrumental in shaping Vida OLE into the successful three-day event it is today, generating critical support for expanded and improved patient care. Nearly 25 years after he first became involved, Darioush brings the same energy, ideas, and high expectations to his work. Today, he can be found in his namesake garden, walking the halls of the health centers he helped build, or in a meeting to plan the next event or initiative. Wherever his service takes him, he is always asking, “Are we doing enough?” We are incredibly grateful to Darioush for pushing us to grow, improve, and better serve our community.

Madeline Hernandez

Ask anyone who knows Madeline (Mady) Hernandez to describe her, and the words come easily: fearless, brilliant, funny, humble, resilient. A health equity champion through and through. It’s exactly why she’s this year’s recipient of the Corazón de OLE Award, given each year to someone who pours their heart into this community. By day, Mady is the North Bay Regional Directing Attorney for the Immigration Institute of the Bay Area, where she oversees a staff of15. She got her start back in 2013, opening IIBA’s Napa office as a team of one. Before that, she worked as a private immigration attorney and as a legal fellow at the Katharine & George Alexander Community Law Center, after earning her law degree from Santa Clara University. In 2019, Napa County recognized her with the CanDo Spirit Award for her nonprofit work, the same year she joined the OLE Health Board of Directors, where she later served as Board Secretary.

“She is a tireless advocate who has committed her career to serving immigrant families,” says OLE Health CEO Alicia Hardy. Mady’s fingerprints are all over the North Bay’s immigrant support network, from her leadership with the Community Leaders Coalition to the workshops she helps host so families know what resources exist. As a board member, she’s also worked hand-in-hand with OLE’s clinics to make it easier for patients to get the physicals and paperwork required on the long road to citizenship. But Mady’s generosity doesn’t clock out at 5:00 pm. At home, she and her husband Rene foster children who need a safe place to land. In fact, she’s adopted three of them, giving each a loving home and a very different future. “Despite the pressures of her work and home life, Mady is always positive, upbeat, high-energy, and engaged,” Hardy says. “She is incredibly intelligent, an expert in her field, yet also humble, open, and generous with her time and expertise.” That’s the heart of the Corazón de OLE Award. And that’s Mady.

Setting the scene is Favia, the Coombsville winery where viticulturist Annie Favia and winemaker Andy Erickson — a husband-and-wife team who spent years shaping some of the valley’s most celebrated estates before striking out on their own — have painstakingly restored a stone cellar built in 1886 into their home and headquarters. Dinner unfolds in a place most visitors never see: a hidden corner of Napa’s youngest AVA at the foot of the Vaca Mountains where a barrel cellar of serious pedigree sits beneath the very rooms Annie and Andy live in. Pacific Mambo Orchestra The Pacific Mambo Orchestra (PMO) is a Grammy® Award-winning Latin big band from San Francisco that has become one of the leading forces in keeping the great mambo and Latin jazz orchestra tradition alive in the 21st century. Christopher Hanke, Auctioneer Christopher Hanke is a professional actor, comedy host, and auctioneer. Along with his team of goodwill bandits at The Bidding Group, he serves as a modern-day Robin Hood, inspiring donors to support organizations who do good deeds. His motto: the more they laugh, the more they give. You might recognize Hanke from television shows The Resident, A Million Little Things or the HBO miniseries I Know This Much Is True or shows on Broadway.
