King’s Week is our unique festival of music, drama, art, sport and everything else, that has been held every year in the last week of the summer term since 1952.
More than 200 events take place throughout the week across multiple locations, attended by pupils, staff, governors, parents, alumni and VIP guests and supporters from the local community and beyond. In 2025, only 30 of these events were ticketed and over 6500 tickets were sold.
King’s Week is taking place this year from 25th June to 1st July.

Jazz on a Summer Sunset
The Modern Jazz Group, under the direction of the pupil Head of Jazz, performs a variety of tunes in an entertaining evening of music.
From showtune standards to exciting modern-day compositions, featuring top-class instrumentalists and awe-inspiring vocalists, Jazz on a Summer Sunset kicks off King’s Week with a bang!

The Serenade Choir, including members of the Crypt Choir and additional 6a singers, will perform an eclectic mix of evening melodies in the breathtaking surroundings of Canterbury Cathedral.

The Serenade
Birley’s Saturday showcases the School’s sporting endeavours and is the largest single event of King’s Week, welcoming families, friends and the local community across a full day of activities.
Including everything from show jumping to a classic car rally, with rugby, tennis, cricket and tug of war, Birley’s Saturday is the perfect mixture of school sports day, drinks party and village fete.

Jazz Concert
The King’s School Big Band, led by the pupil Head of Jazz, presents an evening of pure enjoyment.

The Gala Symphony Concert
As King’s Week draws to a close, our talented Symphony Orchestra takes to the stage for this wonderful black tie event.
Featuring classical music from the likes of Rachmaninov, Kapustin and Brahms’ expansive Piano Concerto No. 2, the Gala Symphony Concert provides a most fitting way to conclude King’s Week.
