It is a true honor to celebrate this milestone year with you. Our first “National American Sale,” boldly promoted as Red & Rugged, was held Jan. 22, 1976, at 7 p.m. in the Denver Stock Show sale arena. That evening marked the start of a tradition that has shaped our breed for five decades. With the exception of the year missed during COVID, this sale has been held every year—each showcasing elite genetics and the unwavering passion of Salers breeders.
The excitement that surrounded the breed in 1976 continues, fueled by cattlemen and women dedicated to progress. This sale remains our only membership event where every live lot sells with genomic-enhanced EPDs, ensuring buyers have the most accurate and dependable data available. Simply put, this is where confidence meets opportunity.
We are pleased to introduce a refreshed and more engaging schedule. Festivities begin Jan. 11 with the pen bull show in the morning. The sale cattle display will be by the ring at 12 p.m. At 1:00 p.m., we will proudly host the 50th National Salers Sale in the main sale arena. Immediately following the sale, join us for our annual meeting, the Junior Association auction, and an evening social—an ideal time to connect with fellow breeders and enjoy the camaraderie that defines our breed. The celebration continues the next day with the National Show.
I’ve always appreciated the timeless insights of Will Rogers, whose words mirror the spirit of our breeders. He once said, “If you want to be successful, it’s just this simple. Know what you are doing. Love what you are doing and believe in what you are doing.” This year’s 50th anniversary offering represents not only outstanding cattle, but also a chance to invest in the future of a breed shaped by people who know, love, and believe deeply in what they do.
