Spring blossoms are beginning to appear, and The Masters is just around the corner—which can only mean one thing: the Northwest golf season is officially upon us. Our team has an exciting spring lined up, packed with engaging events both on the course and in the clubhouse.
From golf to dining, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Our Easter and Mother’s Day brunches are sure to exceed expectations, and we’ll also be hosting fun lounge events, including Trivia Night, Pasta Night, and Music Bingo. April will bring several club demo days as well, so be sure to carve out time to test the latest equipment and upgrade your bag for the season ahead.

On the course, Rick and his turf team have been hard at work completing several important projects, including sanding green approaches and tees. Greens sanding is scheduled for April, allowing for a quick recovery and a return to the smooth, true roll we all appreciate. In May, we will receive a delivery of new bunker sand, greatly improving playability in several bunkers throughout the course.
Members who played throughout the winter may have already noticed the refreshed tee marker stones and fairway yardage stones—another testament to the team’s attention to detail despite challenging seasonal conditions. As you enjoy your rounds this spring, please take a moment to acknowledge our grounds crew and thank them for their dedication and hard work.

Spring brings a sense of renewal to the club—fresh air, bright greens, and the return of familiar faces. It’s a season that reminds us just how special this community is. Every event, from our Men’s and Women’s Club Openings to 9’s Enough and our new 9’s All We Got (Men’s) club, as well as the launch of our PGA Jr. League, is an opportunity to reconnect, welcome new members, and celebrate the game we share.

This year, we’re focused on creating moments that bring people together—relaxed social rounds, family-friendly gatherings, and tournaments that balance competition with camaraderie. The season ahead is filled with opportunities to play, learn, and enjoy the course in its most vibrant months.

Always here to help, Brian Petoletti Head Golf Professional
We would like to remind all golfers to observe proper etiquette while enjoying Indian Summer.
This includes taking care of the course by filling divots, repairing ball marks, and driving carts only in designated areas.
Equally important is being courteous to those around you, including fellow golfers and our residential neighbors. We ask that you and your guests wear appropriate attire at all times, keep music at a volume audible only within your cart, and refrain from shouting or using profanity while on the property.
Please also use the designated restrooms located on the course and in the clubhouse, helping us maintain a respectful and enjoyable environment for everyone.
Lastly, we appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a good pace of play. All groups should strive to keep up with the group ahead of them. A round should take no more than 4 hours and 30 minutes, with 4 hours and 15 minutes as the standard goal.
Thank you for your attention to these guidelines and for helping preserve the quality and enjoyment of the Indian Summer golf experience.
While the course may have seemed quiet over the winter months, our maintenance team has been hard at work behind the scenes to ensure peak performance this season. Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to:
In the Shop with Scott
Our mechanic, Scott, has been deep into his “Pre-Season Prep.”
This isn’t just a quick tune-up—every piece of equipment has been systematically evaluated and serviced to minimize downtime during the height of summer. Tasks have included precision sharpening for all reels, replacing bearings, installing fresh hydraulic lines and filters, and completing full fluid changes across the fleet.
Irrigation & Infrastructure with Chris

Our irrigation technician, Chris, completed the verti-drain circuit this winter, a crucial step for soil health and drainage. He also edged all sprinklers and valve boxes for improved visibility and analyzed last year’s “hot spots” to fine-tune irrigation coverage. Upgraded sprinkler nozzles have been installed to enhance water efficiency heading into the growing season.
On-Course Aesthetics with Thomas and Jonathan
One of our standout winter projects focused on refreshing our course markers. Everything received a fresh coat of paint to ensure the course pops this spring. All red, yellow, white, blue, and black tee blocks and granite markers have been repainted. The granite tee stones are complete, and the fairway stones have been raised and leveled to improve visibility and overall presentation.
Turf Management
Thanks to milder winter temperatures, the turf never fully went dormant. We maintained a consistent mowing schedule to keep the course tidy, with tees and fairways mowed once per week and greens mowed two to three times per week as weather permitted. Bunkers were raked weekly, and we’re planning to add additional sand this spring following aerification to continue improving playability and conditions.

I can’t tell you how nice it is to feel the air warming, see a little more sunlight each day, and spot the buds beginning to appear around the club. It’s the promise of spring—and with it, the activity level is ramping up here at Indian Summer G&CC.
Before long, our snowbirds will be returning to the roost to enjoy another stellar golf season. With the Men’s Club, Women’s Club, and 9’s Enough groups gearing up, there’s plenty to look forward to—aside from golf, of course. Speaking of which, Thirsty Thursday recently had one of its best turnouts in memory thanks to some new faces joining in. This ladies-only event features half-priced appetizers and three progressive, unique cocktails (crafted by yours truly) on the final Thursday of each month. We get started at 5:30 PM in Embers Bar & Kitchen.

We’re also welcoming back many of your favorite weekly and monthly clubhouse traditions. Prime Rib Night takes place every Friday beginning at 5 PM, and Pasta Night is served on the final Tuesday of each month, also starting at 5 PM. Our newest addition to the calendar is Bango—an evening of music-themed Bingo with friends, a lively atmosphere, and plenty of fun. Hosted by our very own DJ Shawna Myers, things can get delightfully rowdy. Bango kicks off one Saturday a month at 7 PM, with cocktails flowing and energy high. We recommend arriving early for dinner before the games begin—reservations are a must. Join us on the following Saturdays: March 28, April 25, and June 27. On July 25, we’ll take the party outdoors for our Summer Bango BBQ. Please email me for the remainder of the 2026 Bango calendar or to RSVP.
The Indian Summer Wine Club remains as strong as ever, featuring brand-new wineries each month. In March, we’re hosting a Winemaker’s Dinner with representatives from Tommasi Wines, one of Italy’s finest producers. Four times a year, we present multi-course, plated dinners thoughtfully paired to highlight truly world-class wines. In the months between, we host unique tastings that are only slightly less extravagant. Feel free to email me with questions, to RSVP, or to request a copy of the 2026 Wine Club calendar.
Two of our longest-standing traditions—Easter Brunch (April 5) and Mother’s Day Brunch (May 10)—are right around the corner and not to be missed. Chef Mike Sherman and his talented culinary team prepare an exceptional spread that has become a favorite for so many of our members and guests.
As always, you can count on the Food & Beverage team to lead the way with hospitality and pride. It’s the philosophy we bring with us each day and the foundation of every experience at this special property. We’ve cultivated many meaningful traditions over the years, and it’s a pleasure to see our members and guests continue to embrace them.
Cheers!

This famous cocktail hit its peak popularity in the early 1980s. By 1985, the New York Times reported, “A potent alcoholic drink called the Long Island Iced Tea is sweeping the island’s bars as well as watering spots across the country.”
There are many stories about its origin, but the most credible traces it back to 1972, created by Robert “Rosebud” Butt at the Oak Beach Inn in Babylon, NY. Hailing from the Long Island area, it earned its name because it resembles a glass of iced tea, cleverly disguising its potent alcohol content—a feature that may even hint at roots going back to Prohibition.
The Long Island Iced Tea has inspired many riffs: swap the cola float for cranberry juice and you’ve got a Long Beach Iced Tea, or substitute blue curaçao for triple sec and lemon-lime soda for cola to make an Electric Iced Tea—or the infamous AMF (if you know, you know… I’m not spilling what it stands for).
Cocktail purists debate the “right” recipe. East coast versions sometimes include tequila, though I personally leave it out—it just clashes with the balance of flavors.
Recipe:
0.5 oz vodka
0.5 oz gin
0.5 oz rum
0.5 oz tequila (optional)
0.25 oz triple sec
1.5 oz sour mix
Splash of cola on top
Garnish with a lemon slice

I like to make my sour mix from scratch using equal parts fresh-squeezed lemon and lime juice, balanced with simple syrup. It brightens the cocktail and keeps it tasting fresh and crisp.
