THE PLATEAU AUGUST |
2026

A Letter from Kevin Cohrs
Dear Members,
Summer is in full swing, and it’s been wonderful seeing so many of you out enjoying the club! July was a busy, funfilled month, with summer camps, junior golf camps, and great turnout at our member events. Congratulations to our PMGA Member/Member Champions, TJ Hubbard and Ian Rogers, and our PWGA Invitational Overall Net Champions, Laura Leahy and Emma Eames!

August, the unofficial last month of summer, brings a full lineup and marks championship month on the course. We’ll be crowning our Junior Club Champion, Couples Champion, and our Men’s and Women’s Club Champions. Kids’ camps continue throughout the month, and we’re excited to host two Friday Night Live events featuring music on the patio.
We’d also like to extend a big thank you to our seasonal team members for their hard work and dedication this summer — it truly made a difference for our members. As a few of them head back to school, the rest of our team is ready to carry that same energy into a great month ahead.
Quick Reminder - Plateau Club is Going Paperless

Words From The Shop
Plateau Members,
It’s hard to believe we’re already into August! Looking back on the past month, there has been no shortage of action around the club. We hosted our inaugural ParentChild Championship, as well as fantastic Men’s and Ladies’ Member-Guest tournaments. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make these events such a success!

Now, it’s time for one of the biggest stretches of the golf season—Club Championship Month! We have several great opportunities to test your game, and we hope to see you out competing.

Couples Member-Guest - Sunday, September 27
Each Plateau couple will invite another couple to compete as a four-person team in what promises to be a fun and memorable day. More details and registration information will be coming later this week.
We’re also launching a new “Play with the Pros” series this month. Kevin, Albert, and I will each reserve tee times where three members can join us for a casual round of golf. There is no cost to participate—just plan to bring $20-$40 cash if you’d like to join in a friendly on-course game. Watch for tee times and sign-up information to be announced soon.
We look forward to seeing everyone out at the club for another great month of golf!
All the best,

Keeper of the Greens

I hope everyone has been enjoying their summer so far. With July behind us and August now underway, it’s hard not to feel like we’re entering the final stretch of summer. Now is the time to make the most of every opportunity to get out and enjoy the season. July brought the successful completion of our two invitational events, and we now have the PWGA Member-Member Tournament and the Club Championships to look forward to.
While the golf course is in better condition than it was at this time last year, we are beginning to see more drought-stressed areas developing in the fairways. As a result, you can expect to see my crew and me out on the course pulling hoses and handwatering during many afternoons. We’ll do our best to minimize any disruption to play, but we appreciate your understanding. It doesn’t take long for drought-stressed turf to go from a light tan color to dead, bare patches if it isn’t watered promptly.
As always, it has been a pleasure seeing so many of you out on the course this summer. Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm. I look forward to seeing even more of you as we make the most of the remaining weeks of the season.

SOCIAL & DINING
Robert’s Corner
As we head into the month of August, I just wanted to remind everyone that we would love to host your events here at the clubhouse. With all of the summer tournaments happening, it has been difficult to squeeze additional events onto the calendar these past few months, but with fall/ winter right around the corner I just wanted to remind you all that we are ready to be your event space for family/school/community events.

Thank you to all that came out to the Member Wine Mixer. It looked like most everyone had a good time. I am probably going to shift gears just a little bit for the next mixer and maybe not showcase so many Washington wines. I love supporting local wineries, and they really need our support these days, but I would love to do something a little different from time to time. I am thinking maybe an Old-World vs New-World tasting, like French Merlot and Washington Merlot, Italian Sangiovese and Washington Sangiovese, that sort of thing. Or, would you prefer that we do a Southern Hemisphere event? Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Argentina, South Africa, Uruguay? I would love to hear what you all think.
And, this one is for the star gazers out there...on the night of August 12th (and 13th) the Perseid’s Meteor Shower will be passing by. If you haven’t stayed up late for this kind of thing in a while, this is a perfect time to keep the kids up late and watch a show.

RECREATION
Recreation Updates
Hello Members!
Can you believe we’re already in August? It feels like just yesterday we were preparing the pool for summer, welcoming campers, and kicking off another Penguins Swim Team season. Since then, the Rec Center has been filled with laughter, busy pool decks, exciting camps, and families making memories together.

Although summer is beginning to wind down, there’s still plenty of sunshine left to enjoy. August is one of my favorite months around the Club—warm afternoons, evening swims, and a chance to squeeze in those last summer adventures before school starts back up.
Thank you for making this another incredible summer at The Plateau Club. We truly appreciate seeing so many members enjoying everything the Rec Center has to offer.
Here’s what’s happening this month:
Monday - Friday 6:00AM - 7:00PM 7:00AM - 11:00AM 12:00PM - 7:00PM Saturday - Sunday 8:00AM - 8:00PM 8:30AM - 11:00AM 12:00PM - 8:00PM
Weekend Recreation Center hours continue through August until 8:00 PM!
Yoga with Anitha - Complimentary for Members
Guests are welcome! Guest fee: $15 per class
Start your morning with Yoga on Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:00–9:00 AM.
Whether you’re stretching after a workout, improving flexibility, or simply looking for a relaxing start to your day, Anitha’s classes are a wonderful way to stay active this summer.
Pool Updates
The pool has had a fantastic summer, and we’re excited to continue offering members plenty of opportunities to enjoy it throughout August.
With the Penguins Swim Team season now complete, weekday lap swim has returned to its regular schedule, giving members more flexibility for morning workouts. Open swim also continues every day of the week, making August the perfect month to cool off before the school year begins.
We’re happy to report that all of the maintenance projects completed earlier this year—including upgrades to the pool heater, circulation system, chlorine feeders, and spa equipment—have performed exceptionally well during one of our busiest summers on record.
Whether you’re swimming laps, relaxing with family, or introducing little ones to the water, we hope you’ll take advantage of these final weeks of extended summer pool hours.
Pool Reminder: Please shower before entering the pool and remember that children under 14 must follow all pool supervision policies.
Penguins Swim Team
Congratulations to our Plateau Penguins on another fantastic summer season!
Thank you to every swimmer, coach, volunteer, and family who helped make this season such a success. From early morning practices to exciting meets, your dedication and team spirit made this another memorable year.
We look forward to seeing everyone back next summer!
Summer Camps
Summer camps have been another huge success!
It has been great watching campers learn new skills, build friendships, and enjoy everything from golf and tennis to water activities and specialty camps.
We still have a few Tennis camp opportunities available during the final weeks of summer, so if you’ve been thinking about registering, there’s still time to join the fun.

Looking Ahead

As we head back into fall, our partnership with IST will continue, allowing us to keep the pool open year-round for member lap swimming, recreational swim, and aquatic programming. Additional information about fall hours and programming will be shared in next month’s newsletter.
Thank you for making another summer at The Plateau Club so memorable. Seeing families together, kids laughing at camp, swimmers improving, and members staying active is what makes this community so special.
Enjoy the rest of your summer, and we’ll see you around the Rec Center!
