Elegant by design, purposeful by nature: Maestro's Ball Once a year, Oklahoma City's black-tie calendar clears for one evening in particular. The Oklahoma City Philharmonic's signature fundraiser has, since 2015, given the city's philanthropic set a rare thing: a party worth dressing for, in service of a cause worth funding. The 2026 Maestro's Ball is set for 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club, an evening of blacktie elegance and live orchestral performances. This year, the Oklahoma City Philharmonic proudly welcomes Chuck Wiggin into the Maestro’s Circle. Mr. Wiggin is a distinguished civic leader, longtime OKCPHIL patron, former Board Member, and current Trustee of the Oklahoma City Philharmonic Foundation. Since the Philharmonic’s inception, his dedication, leadership, and generosity have played a significant role in shaping the organization’s trajectory and strengthening its foundation for the generations to come. The evening's roots, however, predate its first black-tie appearance by nearly seven decades. In 1948, a group of women organized as the Women's Committee — known today as the Oklahoma City Orchestra League — set out to build an audience for classical music in a city that did not yet have one. Mary Ruth Ferguson, Mrs. Hugh Johnson, and Lou Dudley were among its founders, and the institution they built has quietly funded the Philharmonic's education mission ever since. In 2017, the League established the Maestro's Circle to honor its most devoted supporters, inducting Maestro Levine — whose long tenure shaped the orchestra's modern identity — as its first member. Maestro's Ball followed soon after: a partnership between the Philharmonic and the League, built to fund the orchestra's youth programs and to do it with a certain amount of style. Maestro's Ball is, by design, an evening of a seated dinner, cocktails, and live entertainment. It is also, more quietly, an evening of arithmetic — the kind that funds a school bus, an instrument, or a child's first encounter with a live orchestra. Proceeds from the night support We've Got Rhythm, Youth Concerts, and Rhythm on the Road, programs that bring live orchestral music to thousands of Oklahoma students each year, often for the first time. Few evenings in the city's social calendar put a tuxedo and a ten-year-old in service of quite the same cause. “While the OKCPHIL is known for the extraordinary performances we bring to the Civic Center Music Hall stage, so much of our impact reaches far beyond the concert hall,” said Brent Hart, Executive Director. “Orchestral music has the power to inspire, connect, and enrich lives at every age, but that spark often begins with an opportunity to experience music in a new way.
