SHERRY MARSHALL John E. Kirkpatrick President & CEO Science Museum Oklahoma Where did you grow up, and do you have a favorite childhood memory? I grew up in northwest Oklahoma City, but spent a significant portion of my teenage years on our family farm in Tipton, Okla. This gave me a unique opportunity to experience the best of Oklahoma through bigcity energy and small-town charm. My favorite childhood memory brings me full circle: attending a summer camp at what was then called Omniplex at Kirkpatrick Center. I found a place with everything I loved from animals and biology all the way to wild weather. One of the most vivid memories was going behind the scenes to see how exhibits came to life! It was absolute magic. Little did I know I was catching a glimpse of a future career. What did you want to be when you grew up? Oh, it was always a scientist in some fashion, all the way. Village woman wins marathon By Eric Oesch Staff Writer

Village resident Maddie McQuirk, 34, was the Women’s Overall Winner of the 2026 Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon with a time of 2:53:22.

Maddie McQuirk, 34, is a wife, mother, Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School graduate, ICU nurse, resident of The Village and the women’s overall winner of the 2026 Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. Maddie has been running since her freshman year of high school at Bishop McGuinness. She said she ran

cross country because her sister, who is a year older, joined the team for the fun of it. Maddie ended up loving cross country and ran track for the Fighting Irish her junior and senior year as well. This year Maddie was the women’s overall winner of the 2026 Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon with a time of 2:53:22. It was just her second time running the race. She ran the Memo-

rial Marathon in 2024 when she was nine months postpartum and finished sixth for women – almost 15 minutes slower than her time this year. “My first marathon was the Tulsa Route 66 Marathon when I was eight weeks pregnant, then I did it again the following year four months postpartum,” said Maddie. “I’ve done the Oklahoma City See RUN, Page 4
