December has officially swept into the islands, and with it comes the annual wardrobe celebration: coats are out, boots are on, and we’re all pretending it’s colder than it actually is, because style demands it. The festive switch has been flipped, and suddenly Malta is glowing brighter than your neighbour’s slightly over-ambitious balcony display.
This month, the events calendar is bursting at the seams; pantomimes, theatre, parades, and yes, the Christmas markets we’ve all been quietly craving since September. Over in St Paul’s Bay, the Malta National Aquarium transforms into a seaside slice of festive cheer, complete with décor, workshops, family fun, and cosy dining at Pjazza San Pawl.
Hop across to Gozo and things only get more magical. Bethlehem f’Għajnsielem returns from 14 December 2025 to 4 January 2026, morphing Ta’ Passi into a life-size nativity village. Think 20,000 square metres of living history, 150 actors, and enough charm to melt even the Grinch’s heart.
In Victoria, Villa Rundle Gardens steps into the spotlight with a Christmas market that smells like mulled wine and nostalgia. Wooden stalls overflow with gifts and crafts, while bakers and makers work their seasonal magic. Come nightfall, the Illuminated Gardens trail turns the space into an enchanting world of glowing arches and twinkling canopies, pure Gozo fairy-tale material.
Wherever you wander this December, the islands are ready, sparkling, and thrilled to welcome you home.

As we welcome the month of December, the Maltese Islands embrace the warmth, joy, and spirit of the festive season. This time of year brings with it cultural charm, timeless traditions, and carefully curated experiences illuminating Malta and Gozo in ways that captivate both locals and visitors alike.
Among the season’s major highlights is the much-anticipated return of Fairyland – Santa’s City, one of Malta’s most beloved Christmas celebrations. From 5 December to 4 January, Pjazza Tritoni in Valletta will once again be transformed into a festive wonderland, extending all the way to the Granaries in Floriana. This year’s edition promises an even more enchanting experience with the addition of new attractions. Returning favourites such as Rudolph’s Wheel, the ice-skating rink, and the bustling Christmas Market continue to offer visitors unforgettable moments, complemented by new mini games and the imaginative Chaos Lab, now an essential stop for families seeking creative festive fun. Santa and his elves will also be at the heart of the celebration, ready to welcome children from around the world for cherished Christmas encounters.
Equally remarkable is the sixth edition of the Magical Illuminated Trail, which once more transforms the Verdala Palace Gardens into an immersive, glowing landscape of colour and imagination. Taking place from 5 December to 3 January, this after-dark attraction invites visitors to journey through dazzling displays, interactive installations, and themed worlds. Supported by the Malta Tourism Authority and
held in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation, this event beautifully blends festive enchantment with community purpose, ensuring each visit contributes to a meaningful national cause.
Across the channel, Gozo adds its own distinct charm to the festive programme. The Christmas Market at Villa Rundle Gardens, running from 29 November to 6 January, offers a delightful celebration of holiday creativity and tradition. Visitors can explore artisan stalls filled with handcrafted gifts, savour seasonal delicacies, and enjoy the serene atmosphere of beautifully decorated gardens that come alive with twinkling lights.
Villa Rundle will also host its Illuminated Gardens experience, where glowing installations, sparkling pathways, and whimsical displays create a magical setting for families, couples, and friends seeking a memorable festive evening.
Adding to Gozo’s rich festive tapestry is the return of Bethlehem f’Għajnsielem, an immersive live nativity village that transforms Għajnsielem into the biblical town of Bethlehem. Running on selected dates from 14 December to 4 January, this unique attraction offers visitors an authentic re-creation of life over 2,000 years ago, complete with artisans demonstrating traditional crafts, shepherds tending animals, and actors portraying scenes from the Nativity story.
Together, these events embody Malta’s commitment to delivering exceptional, family-friendly experiences that celebrate the magic of Christmas while showcasing the very best of our cultural and creative spirit. December offers a season of light, joy, and discovery, inviting everyone to share in moments that inspire lasting memories.

Local Comedian Kevin Naudi
Brings Glory Days to Sliema
Malta’s top comedian Kevin Naud i returns to the stage this December with Glory Days , a new stand-up show at Teatru Salesjan in Sliema on the 12 and 13 December . Known for super sharp, everyday humour and an instinctive style that has shaped the local comedy landscape, Kevin steps back into live performance with fresh material and renewed focus. Oh My Malta caught up with him ahead of the shows.
is a crazy world outside, even if it's just for an hour. The feeling of knowing I am taking them to a place of visualisation, imagination, and self-assurance is something only Standup Comedy can give me.
The title Glory Days suggests a certain mood. What moments or themes did you choose to explore, and how do you turn that into something audiences can laugh through rather than just look back on?
of people. How did that experience change the way you approach live shows, and did any of that feed into what you created for Glory Days?
Now, why did you have to mention this?
You once told us you first stepped into comedy almost by accident, grabbing the mic at a wedding when the music was cut by police. For a show like Glory Days, how much do you still rely on that instinct for spontaneity compared to planned material?
The bigger you get, the more expectations you are faced with. Which is fine and I understand it’s the norm. But that will never change my core, and that is talking about things that I relate to, and that I am 100% sure others do too. The moment you put yourself as the “target”, you are free to say whatever you feel. So, although I work a lot on my script, spontaneity and improvisation on topics I'll be discussing will always be key to my comedy style.
You have often said that comedy is your main craft, yet acting and directing also pull strongly on you. When you build a show like Glory Days, how do those different creative instincts shape what ends up on stage?
In reality, my passion for acting is probably stronger than comedy. But nothing is as rewarding as making 600 people forget there
There are many angles to this title. Glory days signify the good old days, or where they?). Or does it refer to the Glory days we live in today (or are they)? It’s a cheeky approach to how we look at life in general. So, there are many comparisons between the past and the present. To where we are now as a society. Everything is an extreme. The hypocrisy towards certain topics like religion, and so on. (I don’t want to give too much away!)
You have mentioned influences ranging from big-name stand-ups to classic sitcoms. How do those influences filter into this show, and where do you intentionally push into your own style?
Influence is vital in any art form. For me, watching Louis CK, Ricky Gervais, Robin Williams, Bill Burr, Billy Hicks, and a few others motivates me more than anything. They filter through little moments, maybe timing, transition, rawness, but more than anything, from the ones I’ve mentioned. It's mainly not worrying about what you say, as long as it's delivered in a charming, funny, and original manner. Sitcoms like Friends, Brooklyn 99, and The Fresh Prince of BelAir all form part of my core.
You once talked openly about a corporate gig that fell flat, leaving you performing to only a handful
Many years ago, just as I was starting out, I was offered a respectable amount of money to perform for 25 minutes at a corporate event. Lack of experience didn’t help, as I should have made it a point to ask questions and make sure certain boxes were ticked, such as "Is it a seated event?" "Are the guests aware there is going to be a stand-up comedian?". So, the rest is history which, I always kept on a shelf to remind me how bad it can feel when you get no reaction, and have that feeling of rock bottom - And just that thought alone, gives me energy and hunger to be better with every single performance I give, but this specific episode doesn’t feature in any of my past stand ups, neither will it in Glory days (I don’t wish to cry on stage).
Over the years, you have built a loyal audience in Malta through soldout shows and even some musical twists. With the Sliema performances coming up, what do you hope people walk out feeling, beyond simply having laughed?
With this special, my hope goes way beyond just making people laugh (though that will definitely happen). This special is very much a reflection of my own journey, encompassing the emotions, the chaos, the moments of clarity, and the times when you look around and think, “What in the world is going on?” But in reality, the world has always been a mess; it’s just making it a joyful one as we go along.

Experience Guided Tours of Malta's Historic Theatre
Step inside one of Europe’s oldest working theatres with a tour of Teatru Manoel in Valletta. Discover its rich Baroque history, explore behind the scenes, or enjoy a theatrical twist with the entertaining and immersive Grand Tour led by actor Jeremy Grech.
In the year 1732, a deed was signed by the Grand Master Antonio Manoel de Vilhena to have several houses in Valletta purchased and converted into a theatre. Over the years the building has been transformed into what we now know as Teatru Manoel. One of the oldest working theatres in Europe, Teatru Manoel has a long and rich history that features operas, plagues, restoration, wars, comedies, and so much more. And if you’ve ever wanted to explore the theatre up close, now’s your chance.
Teatru Manoel offers a variety of theatre tours throughout the week that will allow
guests to learn about this special theatre’s history and encounter the details of the lavishly decorated interior of this Baroque architectural masterpiece.
The first option is a general tour offered by the Teatru Manoel staff. At this tour you’ll get to visit the theatre and learn about how it has changed and evolved since it was built three centuries ago. From learning about the different backstage departments, stage mechanisms, and the intricate baroque design elements, you’ll get a detailed overview of this exciting venue. This tour costs €10 per person, with group booking suggested in advance. Tours are available at various times throughout the day from Monday to Saturday.
If you’re looking for something a bit more elevated and personalised, Teatru Manoel is once again teaming up with House of Tours to bring you ‘The Grand Tour of Teatru Manoel’ in a performance/tour hybrid that is not to be missed. Led by actor and tour guide Jeremy Grech – who has trod the boards at Teatru Manoel himself several times – ‘The Grand Tour of Teatru Manoel’ will allow you to learn historical facts that you might not find in your average history book. Grech, who runs local ‘theatretourism’ company House of Tours, combines his theatrical skills with his certification in tour guiding to create compelling, interactive, and informative tours that really immerse guests in the time and space that they are exploring. The Grand
Tour lasts roughly one hour, happening twice a day every Tuesday, at 11am and 3pm. ‘The Grand Tour of Teatru Manoel’ has received high praise, with one guest calling it “a perfect balance of history and entertainment” and another saying they would “highly recommend it to both locals and foreigners”. Jeremy will take you on an exciting journey through time, and even explain to you his favourite aspects of the theatre, including the building’s impressive endurance, “From the Knights to the French to the British to now…it has refused to go down. Not even the War could touch it!” This is the perfect tour for people looking to learn more about the theatre, those looking for an entertaining hour of fun, and those looking to escape the summer heat. Tickets for the Grand Tour cost €20 per person Normal weekly tours of Teatru Manoel will continue to run alongside the Grand Tour.
Guests are advised that since Teatru Manoel is a working theatre with ongoing rehearsals and other technical work, there are certain times when the main auditorium will be inaccessible, and it may be necessary for tours to be cancelled or rescheduled.
For further information on tour times and tickets, call the Box Office at (+356) 21246389 or drop by in person Monday to Saturday from 10am onwards.

Visit Nativity Cribs
December in Malta is also the perfect time to explore the island’s cherished nativity crib (presepju) traditions. These cribs range from simple home displays to elaborate village installations that blend Maltese culture with biblical storytelling. One of the most impressive is Bethlehem f’ Għajnsielem, a live nativity village in Gozo where volunteers recreate life in Bethlehem 2,000 years ago. Valletta also hosts a variety of traditional and artistic cribs, displayed throughout churches, shop windows, and cultural centers, each adding to the city’s warm Christmas atmosphere.
CHRISTMAS IN GOZO
A SEASON OF LIGHT AND WARMTH
GOZO
There is something special about Christmas on the island of Gozo. As winter drapes the countryside in a soft calm, the streets begin to glow with warm light and festive music drifts through the air. The island transforms into a haven of celebration, where tradition and community come together in moments of pure joy. From charming markets to family festivities and spectacular celebrations, Christmas in Gozo is a season to savour in every sense.
The Magic of Villa Rundle Gardens
In the centre of Victoria, Villa Rundle Gardens become the beating heart of Gozo’s festive season. The gardens host the island’s beloved Christmas Market, where wooden
stalls brim with handmade gifts, artisanal crafts and the scent of mulled wine. Local bakers and creators fill the air with the comforting aromas of the season, while carols add warmth to the atmosphere. As night falls, the same gardens transform into an enchanting world of light.
The Illuminated Gardens trail, glowing softly through trees and arches, invites visitors to stroll beneath a canopy of colour. It is a setting that captures everything Christmas in Gozo represents; heartfelt, beautiful and quietly magical.
Christmas Markets: 5 to 8, 12 to 14, 19 to 24 December
Illuminated Trail: Until 6 January
The Christmas Parade
On Saturday 20 December, the streets of Victoria come alive with the annual Christmas Parade, a dazzling celebration of colour and cheer. Floats decorated with twinkling lights glide past to the sound of festive music, while marching bands, dancers and Christmas characters fill Republic Street with joyful energy. Children wave eagerly as Santa makes his grand entrance, their laughter echoing through the crowd. It is one of those beautiful moments when the whole island unites in festive spirit, celebrating the magic of Christmas together.
Bethlehem f’Għajnsielem
Running on select dates from 14 December 2025 to 4 January 2026, Bethlehem f’Għajnsielem is one of Gozo’s most remarkable and beloved Christmas attractions. It is a life size nativity village that brings the timeless story of the Nativity to life. Set on 20,000 square metres of land known as Ta’ Passi, just a short walk from the Mgarr harbour, this living crib transports visitors back two thousand years. Around one hundred and fifty actors animate the village.
Bakers work at their ovens, shepherds tend their flocks, craftsmen carve wood and Roman soldiers patrol the streets. Horses turn mills, villagers trade at the market and a gentle re enactment of the Nativity is set within a humble barn. Families can cross a wooden rope bridge, visit a riverside tavern or pause to watch children learning old trades. The attention to detail and authenticity is extraordinary, creating a deeply moving experience that blends Maltese folklore with Christian tradition.
Dinja tat-Tfal
On 21 December, the Villa Rundle Gardens in Victoria turn into a children’s wonderland during Dinja tat-Tfal. Bright lights, rides, games and familiar characters fill the air with excitement. There are creative workshops, music and family activities designed to make every child’s eyes light up with joy. It is a celebration that captures the simple happiness of the festive season, one where children play freely and parents enjoy the cheerful atmosphere created in the gardens.
Gozo New Year’s Eve
The year reaches its most vibrant finale on Wednesday 31 December, when Independence Square in Victoria hosts Gozo New Year’s Eve 2026, a night filled with music, energy and celebration. This year’s programme brings an exciting international flair, headlined by Eiffel 65, whose iconic dance anthems are set to electrify the crowd as midnight approaches. As fireworks illuminate the skyline and the atmosphere fills with anticipation, locals and visitors gather to welcome 2026
in a setting that feels both exhilarating and warm. It is the perfect place to ring in the New Year; lively, memorable and unmistakably Gozo.
A Season to Remember
Whether wandering through a glowing garden, joining the excitement of a parade or sharing a quiet moment in a live nativity, Christmas in Gozo is a season woven with light, music and togetherness. Beyond the main festivities, local traditions continue to warm the heart, from the many public exhibitions of the presepju, as the Christmas crib is lovingly known, to the scent of homemade festive treats such as qagħaq tal-għasel and imbuljuta tal-qastan filling homes.
The programme this year is remarkably rich, with 165 events taking place across the island. These include church concerts that fill historic naves with sacred music, street concerts that bring villages to life, theatrical performances, community celebrations and family activities.
Every corner of Gozo offers its own
expression of joy and devotion, creating a festive atmosphere that lasts well into the new year.
To explore it all, simply scan the QR code to discover the full programme of events scheduled throughout December and into the first week of January, a season that truly brings out the best of Gozo.
A Maltese Christmas Story,
Experience the festive cheer o f Palazzo Parisio in Naxxar, where warm seasonal light, indulgent afternoon teas, elegant Christmas feasts and an artisan market create a welcoming winter sanctuary for travellers seeking memorable celebrations in Malta throughout the festive holiday season.
If you listen closely, you can hear the palace change its tune in December. The cheerful chatter from the summer gardens softens into a warm, contented hum that settles deep within our walls. A softer, golden light catches the gilding on the ballroom mirrors, and the clink of a teacup seems to echo a little more sweetly through the halls. For travellers seeking a truly special experience in Malta during the festive season, our doors are wide open.
This is the time of year we delight in transforming the palace into a sanctuary of warmth and celebration. It’s an invitation to step away from the bustle and create a memory that will become part of your own festive story for years to come.
Throughout the month, our Festive Afternoon Tea makes its welcome return, a perfect, restorative pause in a day of exploring. From the 2nd of December until the 4th of January, our pastry chefs
craft exquisite seasonal treats, served alongside delicate sandwiches and, of course, a properly brewed pot of tea.
On Christmas Day itself, our kitchen orchestrates a magnificent Christmas Lunch, a feast that is both traditional and elegant, served in the grandest of settings. We also mark the turning of the year with
two extra special occasions: a spectacular New Year’s Eve Dinner to bid farewell to the old year in style, and a graceful New Year’s Day Lunch to welcome the new one with hope and good taste.
For those who find joy in discovering local craftsmanship, our Artisan Market on the 21st of December is a delightful occasion.
Story, Told at Palazzo Parisio
The gardens will host a curated selection of makers and producers, offering an excellent way to find a unique memento of your time in Malta.
Our culinary philosophy during this season is simple: to honour the island’s winter bounty. Our chef works closely with local suppliers to ensure every dish tells a
story of Maltese produce, from the humble root vegetable elevated into something sublime to the fresh catch from the sea. It is a celebration of flavour that is honest, creative, and deeply satisfying.
So, if you find yourself in Malta this December, consider this a personal invitation. Step inside for a cup of tea,
a celebratory meal, or simply a moment of peace. We would be delighted to welcome you. And if you wish to share the experience, our Christmas Vouchers are available throughout the season.
You can discover all our festive occasions and reserve a table at palazzoparisio.com.

Picture this – your new office is a sun-kissed terrace with breathtaking Mediterranean views. In Malta, seamless connectivity meets a thriving digital nomad community, where fluent English makes integration effortless. With the Nomad Residence Permit, you can live and work remotely for a year, with the option to renew yearly for a maximum four-year stay.
Trade the ordinary for the extraordinary – blend productivity with island adventures, explore centuries of history, and unwind in crystal-clear waters. No corporate cubicles, no routine – just you, your laptop, and an island with a buzzing digital nomad community that feels like home.
This isn’t just remote work; it’s a lifestyle upgrade. Malta is calling – will you answer?
Why Digital Nomads are Choosing Malta for the Long Haul
Digital nomads are choosing Malta for longer stays, deeper community and a healthier work–life balance. With cultural initiatives, strong infrastructure and a welcoming spirit, the Nomad Residence Permit offers a true home away from home.
The digital nomad lifestyle is shifting. What was once about hopping from place to place is now leaning toward longer stays, deeper connections, and a healthier balance between work and life. Remote workers are no longer satisfied with just Wi-Fi and sunshine. They are searching for places that offer culture, community, and a sense of belonging. Malta is rising to meet that call.
Residency Malta’s Nomad Residence Permit was created during the pandemic to offer mobility and freedom. But as CEO Jonathan Cardona notes, nomads today want more than a travel stamp. They want
to feel rooted, even if temporarily, in the countries they choose.
That spirit has shaped a series of events designed by Residency Malta to connect nomads with local life and network between them. Earlier meetups included a vineyard tour and tasting, a networking event at an incredible historic site from the times of the Knights of St John, as well as the launch event of the Nomad Heritage Card, an initiative that offers nomads free access to a number of Malta’s historic sites. More recently, a beach clean-up at Mistra Bay brought nomads and locals together for a morning of care and conservation, aided by local NGO Żibel. The day ended with a ftira biż-żejt by the sea, turning shared effort into new connections.
Looking ahead, Residency Malta plans to expand these community-focused initiatives to bridge nomadism and entrepreneurship, encourage voluntary work, connect with the local community and host motivational events that inspire. The aim is to build a framework where nomads can thrive both professionally and personally.
Across the channel, Gozo is also gaining recognition as a nomad haven. Its coastal paths, slower rhythm, and strong community spirit make it a natural hub for those who want wellness to blend seamlessly with productivity.
And while more than 60 countries now offer nomad visas, Malta continues to stand out. English is widely spoken, the infrastructure is reliable, and its central time zone bridges continents. Add in free public transport and a renewable permit, and Malta offers something that goes far beyond convenience.
For today’s nomads, it is no longer about chasing the next destination. It is about finding a home away from home. And in Malta, that home comes with sunshine, history, and a ready-made community.
Thinking of swapping layovers for longer stays? Malta’s Nomad Residence Permit could be your next move.

Malta Welcomes Harley-Davidson Community for 2025 Rally
The unmistakable sound of HarleyDavidson engines filled the Maltese roads last weekend as the HOG
Malta Chapter successfully hosted the HOG Malta Rally 2025, held between 7th and 9th November.
The event marked another major milestone for the Maltese motorcycling community, as riders from across Europe gathered on the island to celebrate the passion, freedom, and friendship that define the Harley-Davidson lifestyle. The rally brought together HarleyDavidson enthusiasts for three unforgettable days of scenic rides, music, and camaraderie, embodying the true spirit of the Harley Owners Group: one family, one passion, one ride.
Throughout the weekend, participants enjoyed a packed programme which included organised rides departing from
Ramla Bay Resort, exploring Malta’s most picturesque routes and coastal roads. The event also featured evening gatherings, live entertainment, local DJs and bands, and the warm hospitality that the Maltese HOG community is known for.
Among the many distinguished guests was Mr. Joris Briand, the Harley-Davidson Ambassador for France, who joined local and international riders in celebrating the strong sense of brotherhood that unites the HarleyDavidson community worldwide. During the rally, Mr. Briand was officially welcomed as a full member of the HOG Malta Chapter, marking a special moment for both the chapter and its international family.
Joanne Bartolo, from the sponsoring dealer of the HOG Malta Chapter, said:
“The response exceeded all expectations. We
were proud to welcome so many fellow Harley riders from across Europe and around the world to our island and to share the Maltese roads and spirit with them. This rally has truly placed Malta on the map of European Harley-Davidson events.”
The Ramla Bay Resort served as the official rally base, offering the ideal setting for both the scenic rides and the social atmosphere that surrounded the event.
Based at Harley-Davidson Malta in Attard, the HOG Malta Chapter is the only officially recognised chapter in Malta by Harley-Davidson and the Harley Owners Group (HOG). The Chapter expressed its gratitude to all participants, members, and supporters who contributed to the success of this landmark rally — one that will be remembered for years to come.
