Since the company was founded in 1976, Öhlins has represented the pinnacle of suspension technology and firmly rooted itself as an integral part of the motorsport industry, underpinning countless world titles and podium finishes. Öhlins technology is not only considered the gold standard within the aftermarket suspension industry, but also by car, motorcycle, and mountain bike manufacturers across the globe.
Back in the 1960s, Kenth Öhlin was an up-and-coming motocross rider who showed an innate talent for mechanics. He knew how to bring out the best in the materials he used, and soon found himself modifying his competitors’ bikes. By the time he started his business, he’d already designed his own exhaust pipes, engines, and of course –shock absorbers.
Öhlins grew to become synonymous with advanced suspension. The products were not only superior in terms of technology, but also in quality – a testament to Kenth Öhlin’s meticulous nature. In 1978, Öhlins won its first world championship, when Russian motocross racer Gennady Moiseev took home the 250cc title on an Öhlins-equipped KTM. Since then, more than 400 world titles have followed. Öhlins aimed to build on its success in road racing, and soon entered the automotive seg ment – in racing, as well as rally – further strengthening its motorsport pedigree. But Öhlins didn’t stop there. The company continued to grow, adding electronically controlled, semi-active suspension to its portfolio under the trademark CES. This technology revolutionized the automotive industry and is widely used by premium car manufacturers today.
In 1998, Öhlins partnered with Tenneco Inc. to develop CES valve technology for automotive applications. They jointly launched the first CES shock absorbers as standard equipment on the Volvo S60R performance car in 2003. Fast forward to No vember 2018, Kenth Öhlin announced an agreement to sell a majority share of Öhlins Racing AB® to Tenneco Inc. The acquisition was finalized in January 2019, marking the beginning of a new era for Öhlins as part of Tenneco.
Öhlins has been a pillar of racing for over four decades and counting. We’ve used the insights gained from working with some of the world’s most high-profile racing teams to develop and innovate products across every segment, enabling riders worldwide to experience the pinnacle of suspension technology.
This year, we were proud to announce our technical partnership with the iconic Scuderia Ferrari. For over five years, Öhlins Racing has been developing and supplying suspension for the Scuderia Ferrari cars, providing advanced technical and support when needed. Our goal is to ensure the drivers experience the best possible suspension performance during every race – no matter how extreme the conditions get.
Tailor made for you! We have the perfect part for your bike, delivering outstanding performance at a competitive price. Öhlins manufactures more than 300 different shock absorber models, every one uniquely fitted to your bike and suited to fit without interfering. We make sure that the product behaves the way it should, through the design of the shim stacks and valves as well as the calibration of the adjusters. This is no guesswork. We try the settings out, in real life, and adjust them until everything works perfectly for each and every specific model. Then we assemble the products with utmost precision to ensure superior control of the damping force. That is the key to our success.
Experience top-level performance, just like the pro riders of the Enduro, Moto cross, and Supercross series. Öhlins RXF 48 S takes your ride to another level, and with the 2023 updates you’ll achieve faster lap times with smoother landings.
For 2023, we have given the RFX 48 S a new hard-anodized aluminum main piston with a three-port design for improved flow and a revised setting to match it. Extensive engineering and testing were done to both the port design and set tings to make this high-performing fork even better, so with these updates, you’ll experience better comfort, more progressivity, and a more controlled, damped feeling. As a nod to Öhlins’ Swedish heritage, we have switched the stickers on the fork from black to blue.
The 2023 version of the TTX 22 cartridge also comes with the new piston and settings. We have updated the FCX 1301 with a hexagon-shaped adapter for easier installation.
No matter what track you’re racing, our updated RXF 48 S fork will give you the confidence to conquer your toughest ride yet.
