Denton Central Appraisal District’s (CAD) holds both formal and informal hearings where property owners and their agents provide evidence to argue for lower property values. The results of these hearings are displayed below:  The $327 million overall tax savings for Denton County property protest winners in 2022 surpasses the $190 million total property tax reductions in 2021. August 2023 Denton Central Appraisal District informal hearings generated an estimated property tax savings of $51 million. Formal hearings with the Appraisal Review Board generated an additional tax savings of approximately $167 million, bringing the total tax savings to around $218 million for 2021.

July 2023 The Denton Central Appraisal District yielded $6.7 billion in property tax assessment reductions at appraisal review board hearings. As a result, property owners in the county collectively realized close to $167 million in tax savings!

June 2023 The Denton Central Appraisal District states the total amount of value reduction achieved through the informal process in 2021 was $2 billion. That translates to around a $50.9 million tax savings for Denton County property owners.
