In 2023, accounts in Nueces CAD saved $28 million in property taxes. Nueces County property owners protested the taxable value of 39,140 accounts. In Nueces County, 54% of informal protests and 44% of property tax protests submitted to the Appraisal Review Board (ARB) were successful. Property tax protests via the ARB saved Nueces CAD homeowners $1 million, whereas informal protests saved them $11 million.
The total amount of tax savings from formal protests in Nueces County has grown from little over $7 million in 2020 to $10 million in 2023. In 2021, only 11% of parcels in Nueces County were protested; by 2023, that number had steadily risen to 18%.
