Denton Central Appraisal District’s (CAD) holds both formal and informal hearings where property owners and their agents provide evidence to argue for lower property values. The results of these hearings are displayed below :

 Due to protests, property owners in Denton County saw a total of $562 million in tax savings in 2023, up from $429 million in 2022. As many as 133,780 accounts in Denton County were protested by property owners in 2023.

 In Denton County, 63% of informal property tax protest and 89% of ARB protests were successful.  At Denton CAD, homeowners saved about $28 million via informal protests, and at ARB, they saved $45 million through property tax protests.  A total of 28% of Denton County’s property parcels were subject to an appeal in 2023, up from 20% in 2021. As a result of protests raised at the informal hearings, owners in Denton County saved $129 million in property taxes.
