I would like to extend a very warm welcome to you, and I am delighted that you and your family are interested in becoming part of our Oasis family. I truly understand just how important the choice is when considering which school your child will attend, so thank you for taking the time to find out more about this Oasis Academy.
Oasis Community Learning (part of the Oasis Charitable Trust) is a family of academies across the UK and was established with the vision to create ‘Exceptional Education at the Heart of the Community’.
At Oasis, we create an environment where every student belongs and is able to explore their purpose, equipped with the knowledge and skills to have real choice and opportunity to flourish in their lives. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to develop their character, as well as deep knowledge and understanding that will shape their lives. Our curriculum is designed to make this possible.
We believe the key to flourishing within Oasis is the quality of our relationships including our sense of connection and belonging. In all our schools, we take a relational approach and believe that every child should be seen, known and understood so that they can thrive in all aspects of school life and beyond.
We have high aspirations and expectations for every child. We work hard to help each child learn and develop the range of competences, skills and personal qualities that will create strong foundations for their life journey. We want every child at an Oasis Academy to be an active participant in their local community and wider society and have the ability to be confident in who they are and who they are becoming.

We are extremely proud to welcome you to Oasis Academy South Bank, an Outstanding 11 -18 academy in the heart of the Waterloo community.
All students are welcome with us, regardless of starting point, need or complexity. We embrace diversity, are totally inclusive and believe that all students here will ‘Climb the STAIRS to Greatness’ and reach our two end goals of getting their dream job and becoming a model citizen.
Students at Oasis Academy South Bank are happy, motivated and kind. We aspire for our alumni to be highly desired and sought after by world -leading organisations but with a passionate drive to give back to their local community.

About Us
Oasis Academy South Bank opened on the 2 nd September 2013 with a founding cohort of 120 Year 7s. Since then, we have grown year on year and are now full in every Year Group with 600 students in the lower school and 120 in our Sixth Form. We were awarded Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted and continue to strive to ‘get a little bit
better every day’ to be the very best school we can be for our local community.
Oasis Academy South Bank opened in September 2013. There are 600 students in total between Year 7 and Year 11. We have 120 places available in our Sixth Form. We serve our local community and were awarded Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted.

Oasis Academy South Bank believes all young people can become successfully employed in a career with prospects. Oasis Academy South Bank believes all aspects of a child’s development are crucial to their success. Our curriculum offer is made up of three core areas:

Enrichment Curriculum

At Oasis Academy South Bank, we have carefully planned our curriculum to ‘open doors and close the gap’. This means that the academy offers a traditional core academic curriculum, in addition to a rich and varied enrichment curriculum. From Year 7 the following subjects are compulsory and taught in line with the National Curriculum: English, Maths, Science, a Modern Foreign Language, History, Geography, Religious Education, Computer Science, Music, DT, Art, Drama and Physical Education.

Oasis Academy South Bank offers a traditional core academic curriculum in addition to a rich and varied enrichment curriculum. We have a key focus on literacy at both Key Stage 3 and 4. The Academy day begins at 8.00am with an hour of DEAR (Drop Everything and Read), which is designed to foster a love and enjoyment of reading. This hour is spent in their House Groups, where they have the opportunity to build relationships with both peers and their House Coaches.

We ensure there is a rigorous focus on literacy and numeracy so that all children exceed national expectations. Additionally we ensure there is a rigorous focus on regular, meaningful assessments in all subject areas so students and parents are consistently aware of student progress and how to move forward.

We offer a unique, innovative and creative enrichment programme that ensures the development of the whole child. Our curriculum includes weekly sports sessions. For example football, netball, rugby or athletics. It also entails one afternoon of an enrichment elective, for example; Musical Theatre, Dance, Catering and Hospitality, Farming, Emergency Medical Care or Website and Software design. On one afternoon, students partake in careers projects developing employability and offering careers education in a variety of sectors, for example; technology, engineering, architecture, medicine, media, civil service, journalism and professional services.
We know that education goes beyond a traditional academic curriculum and our unique and innovative enrichment curriculum serves to unlock the potential in all children in three key areas; creative arts, careers and citizenship. Students have the opportunity to pursue a range of additional interests, for example: Musical Theatre, Dance, Human Rights, Farming, Debating and Swimming. We also work with a variety of local, national and international businesses to collaborate on careers projects delivering careers education for our students in a variety of sectors; for example technology, engineering, architecture, medicine, media, journalism and professional services. Collaboration with these top companies, including Facebook, EY, Clifford Chance and PWC, supports us to develop employability skills in our students, ensuring they leave us well-equipped to secure their dream job.
3. South Bank 6 –
The Oasis Entitlement
All of our pupils enjoy the Oasis Entitlement, a guaranteed set of opportunities during their time at the academy:

Pupils can join existing clubs at the academy, but also pitch new ones to our staff. We have many exciting lunchtime and after school activities which include a variety of sports clubs and training, newspaper club, board games club, choir, film club, MedSoc and many more!

Oasis Academy South Bank is proud to be part of the wider Oasis Hub Waterloo, which works alongside local families and supports our community in a number of different ways. All families at Oasis Academy South Bank are invited to get involved with our local community work, including:

Admissions Criteria

The PAN (Published Admission Number) for Oasis Academy South Bank is 120 Year 7 students.
Admissions Criteria
A copy of the admissions policy is available on request or to download from our website. In the event of the Academy being oversubscribed, the following oversubscription criteria will apply:

Families should apply through the CAF (Common Application Form) online.
1. Looked after Children or Previously Looked after Children as defined in section 22 (1) of the Children Act 1989.
If your child currently receives Free School Meals (or has done at any point between Year 3 and Year 6), then you should also complete a Supplementary Information Form which is available on the school website. This must be stamped by your child’s primary school and returned in person or by email to the Academy by Monday 31st October.
2. Siblings – we will prioritise twins or children from other multiple births under the sibling criteria and would increase our published PAN to accommodate this need.
3. Children with exceptional medical or social needs as defined by a suitably qualified and experienced panel convened to consider such cases. Evidence in the form of a doctor or social worker’s letter will be required.

4. Distance – as measured by a straight line between the child’s home and the permanent site of the school. This measurement will be done by a computerised mapping system, from a point in the child’s home as identified by the software to a point at the school as profiled in the software. The child’s home address will be considered to be where the child spends the majority of the school week.

Message from our Founder
When I started Oasis back in 1985, I had no idea it would grow into the wonderful family of charities that it has become today. In Oasis Community Learning, we are the country’s second largest provider of Academy schools, educating around 30,000 children and young people. Through Oasis Aquila Housing, we provide housing for vulnerable young people. With Oasis Community Partnerships we run social projects – from community farms and coffee houses to churches and children’s centres – and much more besides. And we do this in communities as diverse as Gateshead in the North East to Bristol in the South West. So, the question is…why?
Not only do we believe your child should receive the very best formal education, but also that there is more to a healthy life and future than simply the knowledge they hold.
