As we turn the calendar to March, the energy at Oakwood begins to shift toward spring and the exciting season ahead
This month, we will complete course aeration as part of our commitment to maintaining exceptional playing conditions throughout the year. We appreciate your understanding as this important work sets the stage for a strong golf season.
With Spring Break and March Madness bringing a full calendar across Kansas City, we look forward to welcoming you to the Club to gather, dine, and enjoy time together amid a busy month.
Construction is wrapping up on our new gated entrance, enhancing both the arrival experience and overall security of the Club.
Thank you for your continued support and vibrant community spirit. We’re excited for all that this spring will bring and look forward to another outstanding season together.
Warmly,

Dear Oakwood Members,
The upcoming golf season is just around the corner, and we’re thrilled to kick off what promises to be an exciting new year of competition and camaraderie. As you may already know, the 2026 Oakwood Golf Guide has been published, highlighting all the latest news and events related to Oakwood Golf.
We’re pleased to introduce several new events for this season, including a Couples Member-Guest Tournament, Year-Long Match Play on the Par 3 Course, a Parent-Child Golf Event, and ongoing Closest-to-the-Pin Challenges on Par 3. Along with the guide, you'll find detailed information about the Men’s and Ladies’ Leagues for 2026.
For the Men’s League, we’re returning to a team-based format featuring matches, and we’re also incorporating rotating game formats to keep the league engaging and competitive throughout the season
If you have any questions about the events, leagues, or just want to get involved with regular play at Oakwood, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m happy to set up a time to discuss how I can assist you in enjoying this season to the fullest.
Lastly, I’d like to remind everyone of a few key practices to help us maintain excellent course conditions:
Repair divots on the greens,
Use the sand provided on your cart, Pick up divots and place them in the designated boxes, Follow all daily cart rules and restrictions.
Thank you and see you on the course!

To the Oakwood Membership,
I want to thank you all for a great first season I’m excited to begin my first full spring with the membership and am really looking forward to building on the momentum we started last year.
For those I haven’t had the chance to connect with yet, I’d love to briefly reintroduce myself and share more about my role at the club I’m a Physical Therapist and Athletic Trainer with experience in professional sports, as well as working with active adults and athletes of all levels and sports. I partnered with Oakwood to collaborate with the Performance Center and support our membership’s medical and performance goals.
Now that I have a better understanding of the club and its needs, my goal in year two is to continue enhancing what we offer and make our services even more accessible and impactful for you.
Thank you to everyone who responded to the recent survey — your feedback is incredibly helpful. Many of you expressed interest in morning and midday group sessions, especially mobility and pre-golf warm-up work I’m excited to begin offering more of these sessions and helping you feel your best before you hit the course – more details and session times to follow.
If you haven’t visited the Performance Center yet, I’d love to invite you in. I’m happy to show you around, answer questions, and help you get comfortable with the space.
As your sports medicine resource at the club, I’m available to you with a flexible schedule. Whether you have questions about what physical therapy is and looks like at the club, exercise selection, injury prevention, or you’re interested in a personalized one-on-one program, I’m here to help. We can work together in the Performance Center or the fitness center in the main clubhouse whatever is most convenient for you
Please don’t hesitate to reach out either in person or through email/phone.

As we approach spring and the start of the golf season, the Agronomy Team has been finalizing several offseason projects in preparation for improved course conditions. Recent work has included installation of stepping stones on select par 3 tees, pond improvements on Hole 16, continued tree management, and irrigation repairs on Hole 5 of the par 3 course. These projects are part of our ongoing effort to enhance playability, safety, and overall course presentation.
Many members have noticed temporary cart restrictions. We are monitoring turf conditions daily, and given the challenges experienced last spring, we are taking a proactive approach to traffic management. Limiting cart traffic in key areas helps protect turf health and positions us for a stronger growing season in 2026 As temperatures fluctuate between warm and cold periods, turf particularly bermuda and zoysia fairways remains vulnerable. Over the past two weeks, we have closely evaluated these areas, and we are beginning to see early signs of green-up at the base of the plants.
Greens aerification is scheduled for this month as we prepare for the season. This important cultural practice promotes healthy root growth, improves soil structure, and ensures optimal playing conditions throughout the year. As temperatures consistently rise, we will begin mowing greens regularly and initiate our seasonal agronomic programs. Greens have not been mowed recently as the team has been focused on completing several priority projects; however, routine maintenance will resume as growth increases.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this transitional time. We look forward to seeing everyone back on the course as the weather continues to warm and the season gets underway.
Best,

Jacob Foster Golf Course Superintendent

We’d like to take a moment to shine a spotlight on one of our talented young members here at Oakwood making impressive strides in their golf journeys.
Let us introduce Blake Hartner, who is entering his sophomore year at Columbia College. Blake committed to Columbia in December 2025 after three years of varsity golf at Rockhurst High School. Notably, he was accepted into Columbia College’s honors program, an incredible achievement for a freshman.
During his fall season, Blake was the only freshman to compete in every event, showcasing his dedication and skill. In his second college tournament, he shot a remarkable 5-under par (68, 71) over 36 holes. For several weeks, he led the conference in scoring average while maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA in his first semester. Throughout the fall, he participated in seven tournaments across the Midwest, demonstrating consistency and talent.
Congratulations, Blake, on a fantastic start to your collegiate golf career We are excited to see what accomplishments lie ahead and look forward to following your progress this season!
