PRIMARY ART Kindergarten artists have explored lines and color in art, along with 3-D work through a paper sculpture.

In a lesson about kindness in art, students learned it is OK to not like all art, but we should be kind about how we talk about others' art and our own. Kind words help us grow. Artwork is unique and We joined the different, making it community in the interesting.
Primary classrooms to discuss with the entire class about kindness in art, and students practiced as we observed artwork.
Art PRIMARY ART
Primary students created a lantern made from recycled bottles. We love using recycled materials and appreciate that they were donated to us!
Lower Elementary Students are currently engaged in an Ancient Egyptian Cuff Bracelet project. The lesson began with an exploration of symbols—what they mean and how artists use them to communicate ideas. Students then connected this learning to Ancient Egyptian history by studying the symbols found in Egyptian jewelry, artwork, and amulets.

Students are now in the planning stage of their cuff bracelets, thoughtfully choosing an amulet or symbol that is personally meaningful to them. This element will be created from clay. Prior to beginning this project, students completed an exploratory clay unit to practice sculpting techniques and painting clay, helping them build confidence and skills.This project incorporates learning across multiple mediums, including clay sculpture, painting, and safe, proper use of hot glue.
Art Upper Elementary students finshed the large cave build you will be able to walk through it at the Arts Showcase. It took a lot of planning, cardboard, hot glue, duct tape and teamwork for sure! As we prepare for the Arts Showcase we plan how each level’s work will be displayed in our gallery spaces throughout the Elementary Art Center. We enjoyed sharing how we use math in art while measuring to plan.
Owen and Nathan from UE4 used their math skills while helping us plan building shelves. From measuring, to researching materials, figuring the cost, and emailing our supervisor for approval for the budget purpose they helped get the project started. Meg with her parents built and painted the shelves. They are a great addition to our gallery to be used for many projects!
Art Middle School Students recently wrapped up some free choice projects. Choices included: Ceramics, collage, drawing and cardboard sculpture. Many students were interested in the pottery wheels and Leigha gave an extensive lesson to interested students. This week students started a mosaic tile project that will continue after winter break.
High School Students continued their work in either Ceramics, Drawing or Mural painting class. Mural painting students finished their murals to brighten the Secondary Art Space.

Theater
Our middle school students became ancient storytellers as they researched early cultures and wrote original scripts inspired by myth and legend. Working collaboratively in small groups, each team created a fictional myth designed to explain a natural mystery—tackling questions such as “What are the northern lights?” or “How do avalanches form?” Students then brought their stories to life through performance, using character, dialogue, and movement to reflect the beliefs and storytelling traditions of ancient civilizations.
Theater
This project blended history, creative writing, and theatre, encouraging students to think critically, work together, and use imagination to understand how people throughout history explained the world around them.
Spanish
In Toddler Spanish classes, Rachael and the children have enjoyed getting to know each other and learning some songs and simple vocabulary. Each day is a new adventure!
