Primary Outdoor Work
Studentsreceivedalessonondecomposersthen learnedhowtosafelyandgentlylookforworms. Togetherwebecame“Wormologists”andstudied thewormswefound.
How did the worm feel? Is the worm long or short? Does the worm have a ring?
Studentsworkedtogethertoanswerallthese questionsandmore,combiningscience,math,and languageallinourbeautifuloutdoorenvironment.
Primary students have been celebrating their autonomous Montessori selves while learning the different functions of 'C' (the letter, sea, see, si), American folk music, a hot dog riddle, the 5 vowel sounds, and using Do, Re, and Mi.
Lower students have been working on their notation chops, both rhythmically and on the treble clef while preparing 3rd graders for graduation.
Upper students have been exploring the ukulele while preparing 6rd graders for graduation.
MS students have been exploring reading and playing various instruments while preparing 8rd graders for graduation.

Art in Aftercare
Students in aftercare enjoy helping with projects to support the primary work and their art classroom.

Students in aftercare are working on a bench for the downtown summer art exhibit in Kendallville. The bench will be auctioned. Stay tuned in the Community Memo for more details about this project.

Upper Students are currently working on Open Art, where they get the oppurtunity to use the art room as thier own studio. Students plan their work, gather materials and then complete their work.
Open Art creates many opportunities for exploration and problem solving.
As we wrap up the end of the school year, students prepared their portfolios to take home.
Lower students are currently working on cardboard construction.
Students engaged in lessons on hot glue and cardboard saw safety and techniques.
Students have creative freedom to make a 3D cardboard sculpture of their choice!
Lower Students enjoy sensory play using shaving cream on the tables while also cleaning them as an end of year tradition.
High School students are hard at work wrapping up projects for the semster. Fiber Arts class offers many ways to create with fabric, yarn, embroidery and more!

Oak Farm Montessori Theatre Company’s production of SIX: The Musical Teen Edition was an absolute powerhouse performance and a wonderful example of how the arts at Oak Farm extend far beyond the classroom. Every member of the cast worked incredibly hard and delivered amazing vocals, high-energy dancing, and so much confidence on stage.

TThe show was packed with talent, personality, and excitement from beginning to end, while also giving students the opportunity to grow through collaboration, creativity, and live performance experience.

TA special shoutout goes to choreographer Lilly Moser for creating dynamic choreography that helped bring the entire production to life. We are so proud of all of the students and the dedication they brought to this unforgettable show!

Our Upper Elementary students had the opportunity to take a special trip to McMillen Health Center where they learned about the changes our bodies go through as we grow.
This was a valuable experience that helped students better understand health, wellness, and the importance of taking care of themselves.
We also took to the field for an exciting Ultimate Frisbee Unit. Students learned the basics of throwing, catching, teamwork, and strategy while enjoying this fast-paced game.

In addition, classes have been participating in a variety of cooperative games designed to build teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Upper also helped create a game called Pinvasion.

Students have also enjoyed a few Free Choice Days, where they had the opportunity to explore physical activities that interest them most. From basketball and jump rope to scooters, hula hoops, and creative movement games, these days encourage independence, creativity, and a lifelong love of being active. It has been wonderful to see students make positive choices and discover new ways to move their bodies.

Elementary PE continues to be a place where students grow stronger, build friendships and have fun staying active. We are proud of all the effort, teamwork, and positive attitudes our students bring each day!
