AWI BIG B 3 NGAWI
Welcome to the annual Ngawi Big 3 fishing competition, to be held from 21 to 23 February 2025.
Ngawi Big 3 is legendary. Some years, up to 100 boats and 400 anglers turn up to partake of the collegial atmosphere and the competition for great prizes, thanks to the amazing sponsors. Prizes are awarded daily, with overall prizes awarded at the end of the three-day fishing competition. There are even prizes for the best dressed team and ‘dick of the day’.

Club Captain Donna Fenwick sends heartfelt thanks to the continued support of “the wonderful sponsors that make our Ngawi Big 3 fishing competition the biggest and best in the lower North Island”. John Allen, President of the Ngawi Sports Fishing Club, agrees. “We acknowledge the difficulties our sponsors have faced over the last few years - many have faced challenging scenarios in their businesses. To those that are still able to provide sponsorship for Ngawi Big 3, a huge thank you. Without you the Big 3 wouldn’t be able to carry on.” John encourages people to“please support these businesses if you are able”. In 2024, Big 3 experienced weather that was stacked against it. Nevertheless, 296 anglers, 16 juniors, eight toddlers, and five land-based fishers made the weekend a huge success. 2025’s Big 3 is shaping up to be an even more successful competition. Donna and John also thank the Kawakawa 1D2 Trust for its continued support for the Big 3 event, by allowing the use of its land for the parking of vehicles and trailers.
