Pesach is a time for questions
Why are Chana’s services so different from all others? If you are wondering why you should come to Chana for help, here is what makes our services so different... For over 27 years Chana, the leading UK fertility support organisation for the Jewish community has been helping couples on their complex paths to parenthood helping clients facing issues including; primary and secondary infertility, male infertility, miscarriage and stillbirth, fertility preservation, intimacy issues, fertility treatment to avoid genetic disorders and early pregnancy concerns. We offer a bespoke package of care, tailored to clients’ individual needs, utilising an enormous amount of expertise to support them, whatever their reason for coming to us for help. We are privileged to have two Doctors within our team who bring a wealth of knowledge to their work for Chana. Dr Romy Shulman, our Clinical Lead has an Msc in Psychological Counselling and a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and Dr Veronique Berman, our In-house Scientific Advisor has a BSC in Biochemistry and a PHD in Medical Molecular Endocrinology. Our counselling provision is multifaceted... whether clients need individual or couples counselling, we have a professional team of 14 male and female therapists, who have years of experience in many issues affecting couples struggling with infertility and loss. All couples have an initial meeting, so they are allocated the most appropriate therapist for their needs, who becomes their support worker throughout their fertility journey, adding on additional layers of support such as practical or emotional help, medical advice, Halachic guidance or financial assistance. of treatment. Dr Veronique Berman meets regularly with this multidisciplinary team, sensitive to the centrality of Jewish Law in treatment choices. They discuss each case in the strictest of confidence, poring over a client’s medical history, to ensure no piece of the jigsaw puzzle is missed. Due to our close connections with other charities, Chana can step in (or handover) wherever appropriate so no unnecessary overlap in services takes place. For example, our relationships with Jnetics, Chai Cancer Care and Camp Simcha means we can offer;- advice to someone dealing with a cancer diagnosis to ensure their fertility is preserved; we can guide a couple through specialist IVF treatment so they can go on to have a healthy baby, and hold a couple if they find out they are carrying a baby with a serious illness. Thanks to our links with professional governing bodies, we are at the forefront of any fertility developments or treatments. This has recently been hugely beneficial regarding Covid-19 and vaccination updates, which we can immediately pass onto our clients - you can read the latest guidelines at chana.org.uk. Our services ensure we are strategic in determining the best way for couples to move forward at every step of their fertility journey and B’H has led to Chana’s success in bringing over 800 babies into the world. My husband and I went to Chana for counselling to help us talk and understand each other when faced with my fertility issues. The professionalism and kindness of our counsellor was amazing.
