TheoriginsofNugentdatebackto1881 andthepioneeringworkofFatherJames Nugent(1822-1905)inchildwelfare,relief frompovertyandsocialreform.Hiswork hadadramaticimpactonthelivesof thousandsofpeople. Todayweremain dedicatedtomakingapositive differenceforthepeoplewholiveinour communities.
Nugentisaregisteredcharity,regulated bytheCharityCommission,Local AuthoritiesacrosstheNorthWestand beyond,andnationalregulators includingtheCareQualityCommission (CQC)andOfsted,overseeandauthorise ourdeliveryofhigh-qualityservices.

Susie*livedatoneofourchildren’shomesforjustovertwoyears,shehada challengingrelationshipwithhermumbutlovedherlittlesisterHopeand herNan Susiewantedtostayatthehome Followingadiscussionwith Ofstedandthelocalauthorityitwasagreedshecouldstayuntilsheturned 18 ThismeantthatshecouldenjoyChristmasinherhomewiththeteam andherfriends,whoshehadbuiltpositiverelationshipswith.
Sadly,Susiewasrequiredtomoveoutofthechildren’shomeintoherown flatbyherselfin2021,aged18.
WhenSusievisitedourhome,theteamrecognisedthatshewas lowinmoodandself-harming,andofferedhersupport.Itwasclearthat Susiewasstrugglingemotionallyandoftenstatedthatshewaslonelyand hatedherflat.Susiewouldvisitthehomeoftentoseeherfriendsandhave tea
In2021,SusiewasfoundlyingonLimeStreettraintrack,shewasquickly admittedintoapsychiatrichospital.Susiewasreleasedfromthehospitalto herindependentlivingapartment.However,shewasadmittedbackinto hospitalmanytimesasaresultofwantingtotakeherownlife
InMarch2022whilstadmittedtohospital,Susietookherownlife.Ayear afterleavingthehome,aged19.
Susie’sstorydeeplyresonateswitheverythingwedoatNugent Itreminds usofthevitalimportanceofprovidingcontinuoussupport,notjustupto18, butthroughouteverystageoflife.Herexperiencehighlightstherisksof socialisolationandthecriticalneedforconsistent,compassionatesupport, nomatteraperson’sageorcircumstances.Susie’sjourneyhasshapedour visionofseamless,full-lifecare-ensuringthatnoonefaceslife’s challengesalone.
