Metro announces independent review of sewage plant mess

An independent review into costs of the beleaguered North Shore sewage treatment plant falls short of what’s needed to restore public trust in Metro Vancouver, says City of North Vancouver Mayor Linda Buchanan.
And she called for a halt on all major Metro infrastructure projects until problems can be sorted out. Buchanan released a blistering statement from city council following the announcement by Metro Vancouver board chair George Harvie last week that an independent review of the project will take place. Buchanan described the sewage plant project as “a mess, years in the making” that “has been driven by a complete lack of financial discipline and transparency.” Buchanan also criticized the announcement of a project review as too vague, add that any review must be completely independent of Metro and be accessible to the public – something she said has not happened so far.
