Jason is an amateur photographer who works professionally at an architectural firm in Christchurch. “The photos were captured from the back porch of our new home in Preston Downs,” Jason said. “A series of images were chosen from hundreds captured between 11pm and 1am. Totality, that is where the moon is covered completely by Earth’s umbra (shadow), occurred at 11.27pm. This is when the moon appears at its most red. “Even though I am currently nursing an injury I had set an alarm to make sure that I didn’t miss it as it is something I have not witnessed myself. Usually Canterbury tends to miss out on these type of events.” Jason said he has been interested in photography for some time but has
only recently been getting more serious about it. “I am completely self-taught and have joined the local West Melton Photography Group as well as being a member of ‘Flickr’, a worldwide website for avid photographers. “In the last 12 months I have noticed significant improvement in the quality of my work and have been accumulating additional lenses and equipment over time. “I have always had an interest p Jason Clark and fiancée Candice in photography and would practise taking photos of cars amongst other to his fiancée Candice winning a cash things using my parents’ digital point prize. She was generous enough to and shoot camera.” His latest digital allow Jason to use a portion of her prize SLR camera, which he used to take this for a new camera. eclipse montage, was bought thanks continued on page 4 …
