Springfield descends on Darfield

Springfield artists and their supporters were out in force … p West Melton School students went ‘pink’ recently to help raise funds for the school’s Friendship Seat. The school held a Pink Shirt Day and collected over $360 to go toward the Friendship Seat. The school’s promotion officer Rita Spadoni said the idea behind the seat is that whenever children have no-one to play with at lunchtime, they can sit on this seat and someone will come over and invite them to join in with their games. “It is hoped children will approach the one in the seat, make sure he or she is all right and ask them to play. It also aims to help prevent bullying before it becomes a problem.” Pictured are children from the Ti Kouka Community (Y4 to Y6).
