A great turnout for the Malvern Cancer Support Group fundraising day at the Darfield Bowling Club …

Excitement is building in Darfield as the town prepares to host the Crusaders super rugby side in its first hit out of the preseason, with the Farmlands Cup at stake. The Darfield Rugby Football Club will host the second annual Farmlands Cup match between the Crusaders and its southern counterpart the Highlanders on Saturday, February 4. In addition to vying for the cup, the Crusaders will also be hoping to secure

the $5,000 of prize money on offer, which will be donated to a local rural charity. If the Crusaders win they have selected the Rural Support Trust to receive the prize money. A crowd of around 5,000 is expected for the match and additional grandstand

seating is being put in place at the Darfield Rugby Club. Crusaders CEO Hamish Riach said the local Darfield community will be involved as much as possible in the event. continued on page 3 …
