Records fall at athletics meeting

A number of club records and personal bests were set by Selwyn Athletics Club members …

The Arthur’s Pass Wildlife Trust (APWT) was named the recipient of the conservation board’s Biodiversity Award for its Predator Free Arthur’s Pass initiative, which aims to rid the area of introduced predators to enable the native wildlife to flourish and increase in numbers.

With only around 30 people living permanently in Arthur’s Pass village, that hasn’t stopped the trust from taking action to eliminate the stoats which threaten local kea and great spotted kiwi. Along with a trophy and certificate for the Conservation Board award, APWT

also received a $2,000 grant from the Isaac Wildlife Trust. APWT chairman, Peter Neale, said they already have some ideas on how the grant might be spent.
