p Ron Manning (second from right, in green) is a new lifetime member of the Dargaville Menz Shed after his donation of precision workshop equipment. Mr Manning was an electrician by trade, spending many years working with Northpower. However, his association with target shooting was his hobby outside work hours. He learned to operate a milling machine and lathe to craft precision gun parts. With an eye for precision and a thorough knowledge of what is needed to strike the bullseye, he helped others achieve accuracy in their sport for many years. Recently, he decided it was time to hang up his tools, but the thought of abandoning the machines he’d used for so long was not a happy one. Then he thought of the Menz Shed. “Donating these things to the men here means they will be used for years to come,” he says.
