p The community came together to raise money for Cyclone Gabrille’s victims, many of whom still face hardships and massive clean-up bills months after the storm. A concert and fundraising event last Saturday saw crowds gather at Paparoa War Memorial Hall to enjoy supper and live entertainment from various local entertainers. There were also numerous raffles with prizes donated by local businesses, an art competition and a quickfire auction. Citizens from across the district danced, dined, mingled and enjoyed the atmosphere, pitching in to ease the financial burden for those hit hardest by the ‘weather bomb’ events of February. All-student band Socially Awkward (pictured) were just one of the acts who rocked the hall late into the night.
