The Development and Accounting teams apply different methodologies for recognizing contributions, resulting in variations between reported FY 2025 totals. Development's Campaign Highlights (pages 4–7) reflect all donations made to the specified funds from September 1, 2024, through August 31, 2025, and are recognized based on the date of the gift regardless of when funds were deposited. Accounting figures for the Financial Overview (pages 8–9) include additional revenue streams (museum memberships, admissions donations, publicprogram donations, and online-auction proceeds) and recognize all revenue on a cash basis according to actual deposit date through August 31, 2025.
Donor and participation metrics (pages 6–7): Some gifts come from corporate societies, town/ county committees, boroughs, family foundations, or friends, each of which is counted as an individual donor. Therefore, donor and member counts differ. The participation rate measures giving activity by all donors, not just members.

Dear Dames,
Last year was like no other! You responded generously to the call to raise additional funds for both Dumbarton House and for the mission of the NSCDA. You matched two challenge grants for the Dumbarton House Fund for the Future. Each donor’s gift was essential for our success in raising more money than in any other single year. Thank you for being a member of the Dames community and for providing for the mission of the NSCDA and the future of Dumbarton House.
We are especially pleased to present this Annual Report, showcasing our fundraising accomplishments in FY 2025. In addition to celebrating you, our members, and your participation, we celebrate our Corporate Societies for going above and beyond in their financial support of the NSCDA.

The NSCDA National Headquarters Dumbarton House Annual Appeal is a vital source of funding for comprehensive operations and missioncritical initiatives.
The Dumbarton House Fund for the Future is an investment in perpetuity. Gifts provide income to sustain the national headquarters and ensure the organization's mission endures through future fiscal challenges.

FY 2025 Participation
For the NSCDA National Headquarters Dumbarton House Annual Appeal and Dumbarton House Fund for the Future:
Participation by Society: Vermont achieved the highest participation rate at 60%, followed by the District of Columbia at 45% and Wyoming at 36%. In terms of total contributions, Georgia led with $610,322, followed by Arkansas at $147,720 and the District of Columbia at $145,107. In recognition of their exceptional leadership, each of these Societies received a case of champagne generously donated by Edith H. Stickney, NSCDA Vice President for National Headquarters Dumbarton House.
Financial Overview
Fiscal Year 2025 | September 1, 2024 – August 31, 2025
Operating Revenue
Our organization's fiscal year 2025 operating revenue totaled $3,566,291, demonstrating strong financial support across multiple revenue streams. Contributions represented the largest portion of our income at 66% ($2,364,737), reflecting the generous support of our donors and community partners. Membership dues accounted for 22% ($767,814), underscoring the commitment of our members. Program and sales revenue contributed 9% ($312,563), while rental income and other revenue sources added $47,225 and $73,952 respectively, representing 1% and 2% of total operating revenue.

Operating Expenses
Our expenditures reflect our strategic priorities and operational efficiency. Overhead costs of $882,119 represented 32% of total spending, while personnel-related expenses totaled $828,064 (29%). Direct program-related expenditures of $568,536 (20%) and professional services of $539,666 (19%) rounded out our spending, ensuring we deliver programs of distinction while maintaining the highest standards becoming of NSCDA.
