Hoewel pelagiesevis-treilers tans in St. Helenabaai se hawe geanker lê, is dit die snoekbote wat die meeste bedrywig is. Die sterk snoekloop bring werk en inkomste vir vissermanne, handelaars, smouse en ander rolspelers in die bedryf. Volgens verskeie betrokkenes is dit een van die beste snoekseisoene in jare. Charl Victor, ’n snoekhandelaar van Mosselbaai, beskryf dit as die beste seisoen wat hy in twaalf jaar beleef het. Vir Maxine Kanow van St. Helenabaai beteken die goeie vangste ’n welkome inkomste, terwyl Charlie van Blerk van Saldanha sê die volop sardyne in die baai help om die snoek te lok. Die uitgerekte snoekloop bevoordeel ook klein ondernemings in die hawe. Gary Holtzman sê dit skep werk en sit brood op talle tafels, terwyl Gamat Rajab, wat sout en vrugte verkoop, dit as die beste seisoen in ’n lang tyd beskryf. “Die Here is goed vir ons almal,” sê hy. “Ons kan dit byna nie glo nie.” Vissers uit op die water van St. Helenabaai. Youth Council inaugurated Noluvu Ludidi On Youth Day, 16 June, the newly elected Youth Council of the Saldanha Bay Municipality was inaugurated for the 2026-'27 term at Skilpad Hall in Vredenburg. This forum serves as a platform for amplifying the voices of young people across the West
Coast. Newly elected Junior Mayor Cecilia Dreyer of Diazville High School said she was surprised but honoured at her appointment. She hoped to ensure young people feel heard and represented. Jada Peters of Hopefield High School, the new Junior Speaker, said it is
important for young people to have a platform where they can share their views. She pledged to create an environment where all members felt comfortable contributing to discussions. Junior Deputy Mayor Buhle Nokutshaya of Vredenburg High School said one of her priorities is youth mental health.
