The Welkom police are investigating the shocking discovery of human remains that were buried in a shallow grave in Doorn, Welkom
On Thursday, 2 October, the police were summoned to the scene where the remains were discovered They found a human skull protruding from a shallow grave The remains were retrieved by the provincial task team
Preliminary investigations were conducted and revealed that the remains are suspected to be that of a coloured female, possibly aged between 12 and 16 years
At the time of death, the deceased was wearing a black hooded jacket with the name SWAGA printed on the front pocket A broken blackberry cellphone was found along with the skeletal bones The cause of death is unknown at this stage
Police are urging anyone with information that could help trace relatives of the deceased to allow for forensic DNA samples to be taken and compared with that of the deceased to come forward

Since joining the CUT on 1 June 2024, Molete has made a meaningful and lasting contribution to the growth and regeneration of the Welkom campus His leadership has strengthened the academic and operational environment, enhanced community engage-

During his time at the campus Molete, together with the campus management committee, developed a culture of responsiveness and uniting the

Couple drive off into sunset
After many years of being an integral part of the Welkom Classic Car Club (WCCC), long-time members Johann and Susan Lubbe are setting off on a new journey as they relocate to Bloemfontein
Known for their unwavering passion for classic cars (and especially for their striking red Ford Mustang) the couple has been a familiar and much-loved presence at countless shows, outruns, and club gatherings Their Mustang has become a symbol of their dedication and enthusiasm, turning heads wherever it goes Johann, a self-confessed V8 enthusiast, has always had a deep appreciation for powerful engines and timeless design But, as many have come to realise, it is Susan who is the true petrolhead in the family Her energy, involvement, and insight have made a lasting mark
on the club, particularly through her valuable service on the WCCC Committee, where she actively contributed up until very recently
As they prepare for this new chapter, they also face the difficult decision of parting ways with their beloved Mustang, a car they have owned and cherished for as long as anyone can remember While their departure leaves a void in the Welkom motoring community, the WCCC wishes Johann and Susan every happiness in their new home And with Bloemfontein being just down the road, this is not goodbye merely “ see you at the next show”

The Goldfields’s own national model, Alipo Sinovuyo “Sino” Mojaki, recently spent a day with the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) during their Blood Donor campaign at the Welkom Shopping Complex on Monday, 6 October
