Representing theHuskers,DeKlerk secured first placewith apowerful 17,71m toss at the Bob DevaneySportsCenter.DeKlerk matriculated from theGoudveld-Hoërskool in 2021,whereshe washeadgirl.At school she excelled in athletics (shot put and discus)beforeheading to theUniversityofOregononasports scholarship.She is aSouth African athletewho specialises in theshot put and discusthrow.She wasthe double medallist at both the2021 and 2022 WorldAthletics U20 Championships.De Klerkwon gold in shot put on both occasions and added medalsfor discus throw,taking silverin2021 and bronzein 2022.
