Vir vele mense, onder andere haar familie, is die moord op Constance Scholtz (79), ook bekend as auntie Connie, nog onwerklik.
Op Donderdag 26 Maart het Menno Rose, Connie se enigste seun, en sy vrou, Rochelle, met bewondering oor sy ma gesels in hul huisinStikland Mennobeskryfhaar as ‘n baie presiese en gelowige mens wat baie privaatwas. Dieskok in sy stem was hoorbaartoe hy vertel hethoe sy ma gesterfhet —minder as ‘n maandvoor haar 80ste verjaardag Haar 80ste verjaardaggeskenk souwees dat sy by haar seun sou gaan bly.

Menno vertel dit was Donderdagaand omtrent agtuur toe sy skoonma sy vrou bel en vertel dat ietsvreemds by sy ma se huis aandie gang is.
OOPVENSTERS
Volgens hom was Connie sedeure en vensters elke dag om 16:00reeds toeen was sy binne. Hy beklemtoondat sy ma ‘n baie presiese mens was. Duswas dit vreemd virdie bure toehaar vensters die aand ná sewe steeds wawyd oopwas. Ditwas die eerste teken watdie bure bekommerd gemaak het.

Distoe hy iets vreemdssien —dat symase bed kaal is, sonder lakens en komberse. “Ek het dit baie vreemd gevind en die deur van my ma se kamer wastoe.My vrou het toe agterom die huis gegaan. Ek het voor tussen dietwee venstersgebly en daar by my ma se venster geskree ‘Mamma! Is mamma hierso?’ En toe gaan ek om na die voorhuis se venster toe.”
ALETTASEVREEMDEGEDRAG
Volgens Rochelle het een van die bure van agter af geskree dat iemand nounet die venster toegemaak het. Dis toe dat

hulle ontdek dat Aletta in die huis is Aletta, die beskuldigde, het deur die venster geskreedat hulle die venster moettoemaak en dat sy wil gaan slaap. Hulle het uiteindelik toegang tot die huis gekrynadat Alettadie deur oopgesluit en hulle ingelig hetdat sy ma saam met ‘n vriendin, wyle tannie Leentjie, na Robertsonisennog nie teruggekeer het nie. Toe Menno dit noem aan sy skoonma, wat oorkant die padwoon en die hele tyd buite gewag het, het syverbaas geantwoord dat sy die twee susters nogdie vorige dag gewaar het waar hulle metkospakkies van die winkel af gekom het.Dit was ook die laaste keer datConnie lewend gesien is.

Metdie polisie se aankoms konhulle die kamerdeur oopkry.
“Die polisieman hetvir my gesê: ‘net jy nouindie huis’. Daar lê iemand daar binne, maar hulle weet nie wie dit is nie. Ek moetdie persoon vir hulle identifiseer.”
Die gru-ontdekking is toe gemaak: “Toe ek ingaan, staan die een polisieman oor my ma se liggaam. Ek het nie toegeweet dis mymanie.Toe ek die kombers lig, sien ek ‘n gedeelte van my ma se bors en liggaam. My ma se arm was so onderhaar liggaam ingedruk, maar toesien ek my ma sehand is af.”

MASEGESIGINDIEDOODSKIS

Hy prys die patologiedienste vir die heropbou van die liggaam. Volgens hom was die doodskoot aan haar agterkop. Hulle het dit so probeer kry dat dit weggesteekisenslegs die voorkant van haar gesig gewys.
“Ekkon siendis nie ‘n normale liggaam wat daar lê nie.Hulle het dit so mooi gedraai dat ek nie die grusaamheid moet siennie,maar netmymasegesig. Die een gedeeltevan ma se gesig was nog mooi. Diekaak was heeltemal los, maar hulle het dit so gedraai dat dit presentable lyk vir my en my vrou.”
Vir Menno was dit nie ‘n aangename prentjie om sy ma in so ‘n toestand te sien nie.
Sy stembreekegter wanneer hy sê: “Ma se hoof en gesig wasnie in ‘n toestand soos ek gedinkhet ek salmymaeendag, as sy die aarde moetverlaat, in so ‘n toestand moet siennie.
Verdervertelhymet trots watter gelowige en presiese mens sy was.
Sy was een wat dagboek gehou het van alles en alles wat sy gedoen het, soos breiwerk, het sy neergeskryf. Sy het nog op 15 Maart laas in haar dagboekie geskryf. Sy was ook liefvir hekel en brei.
Conniehet nogverlede week ‘n trui vir haar kleindogter gegeewat sy gebrei het, terwyl sy besig wasmet Menno se een. Dit is haar laaste handewerk.
Dieseun is ewe trots op hoe sy ma hom
streng grootgemaak het, en die waardes wat sy hom geleer het.
“Sy’taltyd vir my gesê ek het virjou van die Here gebid en ek gee vir jou terug aan die Here. My ma het my verskriklikstreng groot gemaak.”
Met baie min het sy ma hom grootgemaak en deur skool, kollege en universiteit gesit en daarvoor sal hy vir ewig dankbaar wees.
Menno sê hy sal haar lag en sinvan humor die meeste mis.
Laastens voeg hy by hy verstaan dat die publiek altyd opinies sal hê oor wat gebeur het, maar hy vra dat die gemeenskap die familie se privaatheid respekteer in die tyd van rou.
Hy bedank ook die Bellville-Suid-gemeenskap vir hul flink reaksie en oplettendheid.
Die roudiens was Donderdagaand in Bellville-Suid en die begrafnis sal op Saterdag 4April plaasvind, waarna sy te rustegelê sal word in die Welmoedbegraafplaas.
