n a bid to clean up Cape Town’s rivers before all the plastic in them reached the sea, the City has installed 20 waste interceptors, with hot spots such as Bayside Canal in Table View and Milnerton Lagoon now equipped to stop
pollution in its tracks. These form part of the 2024-’25 Mayoral Priority Programme, which aims to reduce pollution in Cape Town’s inland water systems dramatically before they reach larger bodies such as Rietvlei and, ultimately, the ocean. Notably, the waste interceptors
