et another murder has been reported at the Parow Park Municipal Flats on Frans Conradie Drive in Parow, weeks after the death of a 19-year-old man. The Parow police confirmed the murder, which occurred on Friday 27 March. Lt Col Leon Marx, detective head, said the murder was the result of an argument among three friends, from which they initially walked away. Later, he said, two of them came together again and one of them saw the other had a knife. He then went to get his knife. “They fought, and the deceased – who also stabbed his friend – was fatally stabbed in the heart.”
PAWS ON THE PROMENADE Humans and their canine companions are invited to join the eighth annual Paws on the Promenade, a dogwalk fundraiser hosted by the Mdzananda Animal Clinic and Shelter, in partnership with Vondi’s Holistic Pet Nutrition. The event will take place on Sunday 12 April at 09:00 starting at the Mouille Point lighthouse. The 5 km route will extend to the Sea Point swimming pool and back. Read more on page 4. COURT APPEARANCE The two were apparently members of the 27s- and 28s gangs. The suspect was arrested, Marx said. He appeared in court on Tuesday 31 March, when the case was postponed for a formal bail application. One of the local residents informed TygerBurger about the latest murder. “As far as I know, they were chilling together or drinking, and somehow an argument broke out and they fought and the one guy stabbed the other. The police was contacted and the guy was taken into custody. He did not resist arrest or run away.” The resident said more needed to be done
FATAL STABBING FOLLOWS ARGUMENT AMONG FRIENDS IN PAROW PARK to prevent crime in Parow Park. INVESTIGATION The Community Policing Forum (CPF) chair, Bronwin Daniels, also confirmed the murder, echoing the police that an arrest had been made in connection with the incident. “We express our sincere condolences to the family, friends and neighbours of the deceased at this difficult time.” The CPF unequivocally condemns all acts of violence within our community, she added. “Such behaviour is unacceptable and has no place in our society. We remain committed to supporting law-enforcement efforts and promoting a safe and secure environment for all residents.” Daniels said the matter was currently under investigation, and the community was urged to allow the legal process to proceed without interference. In February TygerBurger reported on the death of a teenager, Alexino “Tupac” Oliphant, of Arena Court at Parow Park. His body was discovered at the Parow Golf Course. A murder docket was opened at the Parow Police Station for investigation.
