Youth from Neocatechumenal Way in South Africa, a charism within the Catholic church, visit St Peter’s Square in the Vatican, on Tuesday 5 August. The visit was one of many stops for the young pilgrims who took part in the Jubilee Youth Pilgrimage to Rome. The pilgrimage saw two million youth from all over the world meet in Rome to visit places of interest and meet the pope. The jubilee pilgrimages to Rome happen every 25 years. About 40 youth from Cape Town, Pretoria, Nelspruit and Oudtshoorn, who are part of the Neocatechumenal Way, raised funds for more than a year to take part in the pilgrimage. They were hosted by Roman families and accompanied by Italian missionary couples who live in Cape Town and seminarians from the Redemtoris Mater seminary in Rondebosch.

esidents are rallying against a plan to channel about 400kV of electricity down Highlands Drive. The Colorado Park, Wildwood and Vanguard Villas ratepayers associations are fighting against a plan to erect electricity pylons along the road and the building
of the Erica substation on its periphery, in Philippi. They say they want the City to give clear details on when the public participation will take place and when they plan to erect the pylons and substation which will channel more than 400kV through Mitchell’s Plain. Bent said she has been fighting the pylons since her time as subcouncil chair. “Years ago, I also objected to this because I was very concerned, especially with the electromagnetics, the 400kV because that's the overhead that they want.”
