Kian April was part of the Western ProvinceIndoor Cricket team that secured goldinthe u-12 (inter-provincial) Tournament held in Gauteng over the Easter holidays.

Selected for the secondconsecutive year, Kian competed against topprovinces from across South Africa. His outstanding allround performance included 244 runs, 13 wickets, 88 net contribution, 18 stumpings and multiple catches andrun-outs.

Kian was alsonamed Best u-12 Batsman. He was alsoselected again to represent South Africa in indoor cricket,a remarkable achievement that reflects his dedication,discipline andhard work.

Zeke Connelly was selected to representWestern Province at the IPT Indoor Cricket Tournament in Gauteng. Competing against some of the strongestprovinces,Zeke and his team showedincredible skill, teamworkand

Queron Manuel will be embarking on an exciting international cricket tour to NewDelhi, India, from 24 Aprilto3May. Queron will take part in four matches across different formats, including T20 and 40-over games, gaining valuable international experience. Emily Standaar qualified for the WP chess team and will compete in the Western Cape tournament from 16 –17 May in Gansbaai.

Smart speed signs are being installed across Cape Town andalreadyhave an effect to reduce the speed at which motorists drive

The signs detect thespeed of avehicle and display the measured speed ona variable message sign next to the road, where it is visible to the drivers.

According to amedia release by the CityofCape, the City's Urban Mobility Directorate has noticed a25% reduction in vehiclesexceeding speed limitsat locations where these signs are installed There are currently10smart speed signs

in Cape Town and another four in the planning process. The City’s Transport Network Technology team implements the roll-out of these signs on request from wards funding them,according to the media release

"Thesesigns haveproven to be an effective speedcalmingtool sincethe

installation of the initialsigns some three years ago," said RobQuintas, Mayco member for urban mobility.

Winter has officially arrived. Youcan feel it in theearly morning chill, see it in the grey skies rolling in,and hear it in the steady rhythm of rain against thewindows. For some, it’s aseasonto endure. For me, it’s one to embrace. There’s something deeply comforting about winter. It invites you to slow down, to trade the rush of summer for quieter moments. To wrap yourself in blankets, cradle awarm cup of coffee,and sitalittle longer beside the fireplace while the world outside turns cold and wet

But this past weekend, winter reminded us that it is not always gentle. Heavy rains battered parts of thecity, leaving floodingand damage in their wake. For many families, the season did not arrive with cosy blankets and warmdrinks, but with risingwater, soaked belongingsand uncertainty. My heart goes out to those who have been affected —especially thosewho havelost their homes or have nowhere to go. It’s astark reminder that while winter can feel magicalfor some, it canbeincredibly harsh for others. It puts things into perspective.
