Die medaljes is waardevol en jy kan ditgebruik as sigbare bewys van joudiensjare. Wanneer jy die medalje dra, moet jy trots wees. Dra dit met trots," het hy gesê.
“Die medaljes is 'n simbool van die beamptes self, en die uitsonderlike werk wat hulle verrig het tydens hul loopbane.” Hy het ter afsluiting alle beamptes bedank.

Lionsclublaunch ‘ProjectVision’
The De Grendel Lions Club started off its year launching one of its most important projects for 2026 –Project Vision.
It said through this project its mission is to seehow it can assist sight-impaired people to improve theirvision, something that will also requirethe buy-in of the local community.
Project Vision, one of the eight pillars of service of the Lions Club International, aims to collect unused spectacles,which are often found in households gathering dust, as the owners do not want to get rid of it.

Instead of taking up space,the club would like the community to support its drive by dropping unwanted spectacles in aspecial Lions Brightsight collection box, located at the Bothasigand Edgemead Libraries, said club member Jacques Mostert.

Goodwood Library celebrates 65 years
The City of Cape Town’s Goodwood Public Library in McDonald Street celebrated its 65th birthdayonTuesdaylast week.
Thelibrary was built after the old Goodwood Hall was demolished and opened its doors on 10 March 1961.
Registered voters, as well as business owners could become members at acost of £1 peryear.
On oneside of the building the roof consistedofadomedskylight and beneath it agarden. In the late 1980s the garden was removedand the children’s section was created.
In 1994 thelibrary started issuing books
on acomputerised system, and in the 1990s Goodwood Library established abranch library in Edgemead.
Francine Higham, Mayco member for community services and health, congratulated the staff on itsmilestone.

Die skenking is op Donderdag 12 Maart gedoen.
Die Dräger Isolette 8000 Plusbroeikaste kos gesamentliksowat R1,7 miljoenenisdeur private skenkers moontlikgemaak,sê Louise Theron, uitvoerende hoof van die trust, wat dié skenking behartig het.
Die trust se voorsitter, prof. Pierre Goussard, het die broeikaste aan prof. Lizelle van Wyk, ’n neonatoloog, oorhandig. Sy het gesê die neonatale eenheid by die hospitaal is dankbaarvir diéskenking.

"Al die geld wat ons vir donasies het, kom van geldinsamelingsprojekte en donateurs," sê Theron. Die trust het ook verlede week ’n splinternuwe brongoskoop ter waarde van sowat R500 000 aan Goussard, hoof van kliniese eenhede: pediatriese pulmonologie en pediatriese intensiewesorg, oorhandig.

Sadly, the skills more people are developing lately are related to howto "perfect" their AI prompts to visualise aconcept instead of struggling to understand photography or learn an instrument and use critical thinking. Idread the long-term effects on our brain processing power after decadesof relying on producing prompts instead of pondering and solving some of the problems ourselves.
It is often said that each generation assumes they are living in the "end times", while the one preceding it feels that today's youth are "doomed, spoilt, entitled" and frying theirbrains with TikTokand Instagram.

Thus Iremain optimistic that the youth can lead us out of the darkness thatbreeds division, hatred, warfare and deliverus to amoment in time where we canspeak to each other around atable insteadof shouting and justifying our opinions
Amidst the social upheaval of the 60s another inspiring tune by TheBeatles echoed on the airwaves and still soothes to this daywith the simple message which said, "all you need is love".
