he Bothasig Community Policing Forum (CPF) last week commended role-players in the safety and security sector for their role in ensuring safety in the area. These include the local police, neighbourhood watches and armed response companies operating in the suburb.

"According to the feedback, there have been notable decreases in common assault and assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, house burglaries, theft out of motor vehicles, and firearm and ammunition cases. These reductions highlight the positive results of dedicated policing and
community cooperation," said Mario Borchards, chair of the Bothasig CPF. He said while some challenges remain - with increases in common robbery, general theft, commercial crime, and possession of stolen property - the CPF notes important gains in other areas.
