Rotary Club raise R70,000 for charity
The Rotary Club of Port Elizabeth West recently held a fundraising high tea. The event raised over R70,000 and was attended by 350 people at the BMW showroom, Greenacres. Each attendee was encouraged to bring a cuddly toy, and they did, initially piling them up in the centre of each of the 35 tables. The guest speaker was Tammy Southby, author of Sunshine Simplicities, which is a book about some of her quirky travel encounters in South Africa. The cuddly toys will be distributed to suitable needy recipients via the Rotary Tree of Joy, which opens in Greenacres at the end of November.
