Body found in search for five

Thebodyofone of five miners who were reported missing following an undergroundmudslide at theDuToitspan JointShaft minethree weeksago wasrecovered on Monday afternoon.

“Ekapa Resources and Minerals confirmswith deep sadnessthat recovery teams have recoveredthe remains of one of the five miners who were reported missing followingthe underground water flood and mudrush at theDuToitspan JointShaft on 17 February.

“Thefamilyofthe miner has been informed.

“Atthe requestofthe family, the name of the miner will not be released at this time.Formalidentification processesare currently underway, and further information will be shared once theseprocedures have been completed and when appropriate to do so,” Ekapa stated in amedia release.

Recovery operations underground continue as teams work methodicallyand safelytoreach the remainingareas wherethe other minerswerelastreportedto be working.

On Tuesday10March,duringher provincial budget speech, Venus Blennies-Magage-the Northern Cape MECfor Finance,Economic Development andTourism -saidanadditional R10 million hadbeenallocatedtothe departmenttorefurbish theARAbass Stadium
