Branch renamed to honour leader Members of the South African Democratic Teachers Union in Elliotdale renamed the Elliotdale Branch the Tabile Kunene Branch. Tabile Kunene was the principal at Gxulu Primary School in Libode. He passed away on 15 April 2023. The Provincial Secretary for COSATU in the Eastern Cape, Mkhawuleli Maleki, said members of the organisation were happy that the name of one of their leaders had been chosen to rename the SADTU branch in the Eastern Cape, where he had served as both a member and a leader.
