Record flood hits Kouga
Last week, in approximately 18 hours, the Kouga Dam went from below 33% to overflowing — a rise so rapid and so extreme that it has been described as the largest flood event ever recorded at the dam in its history. The catastrophic rise was driven by days of intense rainfall across the catchment area and the Karoo region, channelling large volumes of water into the Kouga Dam. The dam finally spilt on 7 May.
