Atleast 15 of Makhaza’s senior citizens received new blankets donated by the Amadoda Aqotho organisation on Sunday 15 March. The event washeldin the garage of oneofthe members’homes in Makhaza.
The men’s movement works primarily with youngmen and campaignsagainst gender-basedviolence (GBV).
Amadoda Aqotho founder and coordinatorLumkile Sizila describedthe initiative as away of showing ubuntu and giving back to the community.
“On Wednesday 7March we assisteda lo-
calchurchthathad an activity at Yomelela Primary SchoolinSite B. The church leaderslater offered us blankets as atoken of appreciation. Insteadofkeeping them forourselves as leaders we decided to donate themtoelders in ourarea. We wanted to thank them forthe role they played in Makhazaduring difficult times.”
Headdedthatthe organisation does not only focusoncampaigns but also addresses various social issues.
Sizilasaidthe organisation also recently donated clothestoshack-fire victimsin Khayelitsha.
